To be honest - I don't have any expectations for the rest of the year. If we continue on our merry way - bloody brilliant. If not, we've still exceeded what I thought were our prospects. Maybe years of disappointment have worn me down but we weren't meant to get close to the 8 this season. We've already proven a few wrong. Who would've backed us against Melbourne coming in to 2017? I didn't. We made changes at the end of last season and for once it's actually worked. Dimma is a good coach. I'm glad we stuck fast and backed him in. Going to be a fun season no matter what happens from here

Yeah but that means there are 5 teams worse than us.

We only need 4 more worse than us and we're already a lock for top 8 ;)

Now, I realise there's no need for negativity after a win like that ... and I'll see myself out straight after saying this ... but ...
If there's only 9 teams worse than us, then that means we ... *clears throat* finish 9th. Just sayin'.

It wasn't an excuse for us, it shouldn't be for them.
I don't follow.

Melbourne had two on the bench for essentially the entire second half, it completely threw out their rotations. I'm not saying it's an excuse, it was still a big effort to get up.

However, you can't deny that it was the biggest contributor to their fourth quarter fade-out. They were easily the better team for 75% of the match.

Yes they were but they weren't the better team for 100% of the match and that is what count's.

And if that is correct, they were amply rewarded with 85.22727272727273% of our score. How can they complain?

Melbourne faded out against Freo to got 8 goals in a row kicked on them . Injuries happen in football part of the game, teams have all beaten others without a ruckman look at the dogs they've done it in numerous games , if it were reversed and we had two down and we lost a lead all the media and opp supporters would say we are making excuses for the loss lol

1 - yeah but you were lucky to win
2 - yeah but they kicked badly
3 - yeah but they don't play the MCG well
4 - yeah but they are a young rebuilding team
5 - yeah but they suffered injuries

they have to run out of excuses soon why the Tigers are winning
= 5 straight wins so suck it up Mr Roos and mates

Sure we have been playing well but I genuinely think we haven't beaten anyone good (a top 4 team). Need to beat teams like Adelaide, GWS, Geelong, Bulldogs to prove ourselves.

If we can't beat them it pretty much just makes us a middle of the road team, can only beat teams below us and not above us.

I don't disagree. What I'm saying is that Melbourne last night without those injuries would probably have won. We were outplayed for three quarters by a middle of the range team. Yes it's the entire game that counts, but performances like that get you kicked out week 1 of the finals, if you make it.
