Well, Im on a bit of a high at the moment..

Do you remember Justin Sweeney?

Pick number 71 in the 2005 Draft, spent two years down at Moorabbin(06/07) and was number 37, He played 1 Game, against Hawthorn in Round 8 of 2007 (Game where each side had kicked two goals each to half time, and Sweeney made his debut with Armitage and Howard)
We picked him up as a bit of a smokey, bit like Jimmy Gwilt, from a local club (Tyabb). He was a small (186cm/86kg) Forward who was a prominate goal kicker in the VFL.

Anyway.. For some reason I took a liking to him and he became one of my favourite players (and still is ) so I bought various items (badge, jumper with his number on it). I was shattered when he was delisted and havnt come to terms much with it since

The idea occured to me on the weekend, to have a look on ebay for the 06 or 07 version of the AFL game on Play Station 2, so I could play as Sweeney and 'live his dream for him.' Managed to get a copy of the 06 version for $10. It arrived this afternoon.

"Poowong is ecstatic that star forward Justin Sweeney will pull on a Magpie jumper again in 2010, after standing out of football in 2009. Sweeney played a senior AFL game for St Kilda after being recruited from Tyabb, and was a star at VFL club Springvale before he joined Poowong."

What more could you want other than to play for a club with "poo" in its name in a Collingwood jumper!

Are the AFL PS games any good as a cheap bit of fun?

The game's have never been that good because it's such a hard sport to program. I still think the best is AFL '99. Of course they are fun however because you get to play with St Kilda and beat everyone by 200 points
Give your favourite player crazy stats like SammyFish did with Sweeney .

Meant to be a new one coming out in like August which hopefully will actually be a quality game. Always fun though.

Loved getting on the easy difficultly with 20 minute quarters.

Yeah, I was bored rather often as a kid.

'Riewoldt is putting on a clinic today' Got used to that once he got past 8 goals...40 later I was ready to throw the controller at the screen.

Well Im loving it, wanting to go and watch him but the old man wont take me, not sure if theres a train to there or not.

Killed it on sunday though 4 of 11 goals.
