So now that you have established that he should be sacked for his actions who can tell me authoratively and accurately, no reported or heresay but actual fact, what was said or done before the hands on throat action?

Pup acted like the prima Donna he is and wanted to wrap the song up so he could socialize with Bingle. Katich told him to Harden up Pup carried on like a girl and almost got a flogging for it.

Jesus imagine if Pup had of pulled that stunt around AB, Steve Waugh or the like. Would have been killed

Or...he'd been in the dressing rooms for 5 hours and wanted to go spend time with his fiance and family and Katich then decided to assault him because of that.

Cricket Australia is becoming more like the chinese government everyday. Whatever happened to "freedom of speech"

It's in America and on American TV where it's always been.

Australia DOES NOT give it's citizens any legal right to free speech.

It doesn't exist here.

People seem to forget that Katich wasnt dropped, he got injured and with 2 other old blokes in the side they decided there was no spot for another one anymore, its why alot of players back in the glory days played through injuries, they werent giving up their spots

As for Clark "advocating keeping the likes of Haddin and Jonson"; Can you honestly foresee an professional modern day cricket captain going to the media and saying "yeah, haddin was a selfish arrogant prick for his shot selection in South Africa but if he kept his keeping gloves on, he'd still be a better bowler than Johnson is at the moment"?

Of course he's going to toe the line and tell the general public that everything is hunky dory. We won't know his opinion until we start seeing some changes at the selection table, changes in the batting order (haddin at 11 should be a solid enough message) or changes in bowling preferences (johnson bowling 3 overs but Hussey bowling 15+)

It doesn't exist in Australia. That's what happened to it.

Nevertheless I'll point out that this year alone we've had Haddin complain about getting dropped from the T20 team, to allow Golden Boy Paine to be VC of it, Katich have his first outburst, Rogers say a few words about the selectors and Watson 'write' a book where he accused CA of creating panic in the squad through the 17 man squad and also more or less said that CA medical staff almost ruined his career and going to see medics outside the sport saved it. And that's just off the top of my head.

None of them got any punishment. But yes CA are becoming like the Chiense government.

Including Katich himself. He had that injury going into Adl. (which really makes the whole run-out thing 10X more amazing unless katich didn't tell anyone)

Seriously, is this caveman attitude still going strong?

I imagine Waugh or AB wouldn't have whinged to the press about it, and that's coming from a fan of Katich.

IMHO, he should have been dropped the moment he put his hands around the throat of a fellow player. If I pulled that stunt at work, I'd have been sacked on the spot.

If you threw a rock at somebody from an opposition company, you'd be sacked as well.

If you verbally abused somebody from an opposition company, you'd be reprimanded too.

Cricket/Sport isn't a normal workplace, comparisons that suggest it is, are irrelevant.

Please tell me what Clarke (or any player for that matter) could have possibly said that justified Katich trying to strangle him?

Hyperbole and wild exaggeration doesn't help either.

Australia DOES NOT give it's citizens any legal right to free speech.

It doesn't exist here.

It was found to be an implied right, so it does.

Clarke looked like a cripple in the Brisbane (?) Test; I couldn't believe he put himself up for selection in that state.

Regardless, I'm a Katich fan, but I actually agree with him being dropped - we need youth, one of him, Ponting or Hussey needed to go. Hussey or Ponting should go at the end of this Summer. Sure, it isn't fair, but neither is the fact that Marcus North has more Tests to his name than Brad Hodge - life isn't fair.

Of course he's going to toe the line and tell the general public that everything is hunky dory.

I really don't understand why people accept and push this line of thinking.

Nobody is expecting Clarke to come out and say, "Yea, Brad played a ****ing ******* shot, the guy is a complete ****, I refuse to have him in my side," - but he also doesn't need to come out. forgive it and back him to the absolute hilt.

Something like, "Brad knows that type of thing is completely unacceptable, especially from a senior player, and if he makes a habit out if, then there might not be a place for him in this side."

Makes the point, doesn't denigrate the player, and lets the team (and the public) know that he means business.

Hypothetically then ...
If he comes out and says "Brad knows that type of thing is completely unacceptable, especially from a senior player, and if he makes a habit out if, then there might not be a place for him in this side."

Then Haddin does it again.
Can you absolutely positively 100% guarantee me that the selectors will back up Clarke and punish Haddin for clearly going against the team requirements?
The confidence between a new captain and a new group of selectors to back each other to the hilt, is rock solid? The combination of Clarke/selctors is second in freshness only to the opening combination.
The more honest and open the selectors are with the captain, the more we'll see honest and open messages from captain to the players.
I don't believe we're there yet and because of that, more dead batting and toe the line answers will be trotted forth to the media and public.
