Despite the Magpies' uninspiring season to date, only the Sydney Swans better their effort to have three players in the top 21 for average player ratings points – skipper Scott Pendlebury (No.3), Adam Treloar (19) and Steele Sidebottom (21). The importance of Ben Reid's fitness is highlighted by his No.2 ranking in average intercept marks, just behind West Coast marking specialist Jeremy McGovern. And, perhaps surprisingly, Taylor Adams and Jesse White are ranked equal-seventh and 15th respectively when it comes to finding a target inside 50 by foot.

Metres gained
Taylor Adams (410.4 – No.27 in the AFL), Scott Pendlebury (401.5 – No.36), Adam Treloar (372.4 – No.59)

Score assists
Alex Fasolo (1.6 – No.17), Adam Treloar (1.4 – No.29), Travis Cloke (1.4 – No.34)

Scoring chain involvements
Scott Pendlebury (7.9 – No.10), Steele Sidebottom (7.3 – No.25), Adam Treloar (7 – No.32)

Running bounces
Travis Varcoe (0.9 – No.37), Adam Treloar (0.5 – No.81), Adam Oxley (0.5 – No.81)

Spoils
Jack Frost (7.2 – No.15), Nathan Brown (5.8 – No.23), Ben Reid (3.8 – No.52)

Intercept marks
Ben Reid (3.3 – No.2), Jeremy Howe (2.1 – No.23), Adam Oxley (1.3 – No.65)

Effective kicks inside 50
Taylor Adams (67% – No.7), Jesse White (65% – No.15), Alex Fasolo (60% – No.34)

Player Ratings points
Scott Pendlebury (18.1 – No.3), Adam Treloar (15.4 – No.19), Steele Sidebottom (15.1 – No.21)

Standout game
Scott Pendlebury produced a vintage 34-possession display to lead the Pies to a big victory over the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba in round eight, amassing 16 score involvements, including five direct score assists that resulted in three goals. - Ben Collins

Average losing margin, 44.4 points.

Individual stats and rankings mean nothing when you're 4-8 and lose by that much on a consistent basis to non finals contending teams.

Well the stats confirm that our best players continue to be our best players i.e Pendles, Treloar, Sidey, Adams, Fasolo (these days) and Reid.

No surprises there!

Agree with this would be good to see some other names getting up there

Yep. I'd love to see the players below our top 3 for this stat because I reckon at least one of them has to touch the ball for us to score at all:

Scoring chain involvements
Scott Pendlebury (7.9 – No.10), Steele Sidebottom (7.3 – No.25), Adam Treloar (7 – No.32)

In other words (gross generalisation incoming) the rest are spuds.
