I ripped into him when we drafted him, thought he was a hack. However, I thought yesterday he was quite easily in our better players, and was definitely the best match he has played for us so far. Don't know if anyone else got the same feeling, but there were shades of Benny Gale in his work yesterday. That being constructive in the ruck then loping around the midfield and backline to be a big, lanky nuisance against the Pies. Filled holes and presented himself quite well. He'll never be the most agile or skilled player in the league, but I'm happy to wear egg on my face for the moment and admit the fact that he will be handy for us.

14 touches 6 marks 1 goal. dont know how many hitouts but he is proving that he can do his work around the ground too. very happy with his development. hopefully next week against one of his old sides he steps up even further. great to see him holding his marks now.

Unliek a lot of big blokes he doesnt quit when it hits the ground either. I was impressed with him today, not as a superstar but as a 100%er. One of those that coaches love.

He had over 20 hitouts, IMO his best game for the Tigers, plenty of effective handballs, plenty of little things like shepards.

This will sound like a criticism but I don't mean it to. Knobel had to be one of our best players considering they didn't have Richards, Fraser or Rocca to ruck. It will probably be his easiest match up for the year.

In that sense it is actually great that he stepped up and played well when he was meant to. If we didn't exploit that mismatch and have him fire we might not have won the game.

In the language of the game it was his turn, and he delivered.

I too was dubious about the selection , now have to admit he is earning his stripes and has been a key part of an improved midfield set up with the clearances...A warhorse that never stops trying, been a while(Benny Gale) since we've had a ruckman with those qualities...

He was good except he doesnt defend very well when the opposition has the ball. He should be crashing more packs when he runs into defence. But besides that he has been very good. More than handy

I'd prefer to see him dropping back into the hole ala Mr B Gale than crashing packs.

Particularly against a side like Collingwood with inexperienced forwards. A Barry Hall, Warren Tredrea or Jon Brown might back themselves to outmark the ruckman and lead into the corridor ... but guys like Cloke, Caracella and Walker are always going to lead out to the boundaries when a big bloke like Knobel parks in the corridor.

He has been very good around the ground for the last month. His best game was the Freo game. Great to see him with marking confidence ever since after the Bulldog game. He's quick and good at ground level for a ruckman. As well as this, he is the most effective ruckman in the league at centre bounces

Will never be a star (stating the obvious I know). But he's been given a job to do and has pretty much done it every game so far.

Makes us competitive at centre bounces and around the ground bounces also. Allows Staff and Simmonds to go up forward and/or have a rest on the bench.

Quite critical to our structure really.

very happy with knobel good pickup and very important to our side. also nice to see taps going to our midfielders
