Hey guys,
just wondering if you knew any information about Lance Franklin before he came to Hawthorn, I want anything football related. I have jumped on the bandwagon and adopted him as my player.
PM me..

Cheers

I've said this a few times before, but I asked a WA teammate of his at the u/18 championships about him prior to the draft.

His impression was that Lance was a phenomenal talent, but not especially disciplined and a bit of a headcase. I think he's a player who has it in him to be an absolutely awesome kpp, but needs someone to keep him on the straight and narrow.

So how long till he leaves Hawthorn?

mead have dealt with the kid personally and couldnt disagree with you more no need to spout undounded things such as that on a reputable board such as this :D

buddy would be a great addition to any list, the pies in particular after todays effort (or lack there of)

Hahaha.. I don't think so!

His family have moved down to Victoria as well and he is VERY happy living here thank you! I think he has the potential to tear apart this league, that's just my opinion. I think it will be Franklin vs. Reiwoldt to see who is the best CHF for the next 10 years. Oh, and Andrew McDougall...

IMO a much better prospect than Roughhead. Roughhead from what I hear is pretty raw, solid and consistent and it sounds to me like hes not an exceptional talent but more of a solid player who can hold down a key position (like say Ken McGregor). However Franklin reminds me alot of guys like Tarrant and Fevola. Alot of natural ability but needs a good coach to get him in the right frame of mind. If this does happen (probably wont at Hawthorn) than he could be a gun. Also he didnt grow up barracking for West Coast and was reportedly happy to move to Victoria so unfortunetaly I dont think he'll be rushing home any time soon.

Why won't it happen at Hawthorn mate? The discipline at our club is enormous at the moment. It's one of the things the club has got right. We just dont have the cattle at the moment. Give it a few years and we will.
Then you'll see that Hawthorn is the place for Franklin, but then it'll be too late because he'll be tearing backlines apart.

Discipline and Hawthorn in the same sentence, .............. that is a bit like saying Total Package attends AFL games ................. no way.

Read the papers mate. Thats all the Melbourne papers were talking about a few weeks ago. How rough Clarkson is on the players if they make one mistake. As far as I know, they call that discipline.

Headlands family moved to Brisbane too and he came home to paradise a few years back.

The difference with Franklin is that his parents don't come from WA. He has no particular allegiance to WA nor the WCE or Dockers. His first preference was to go to Melbourne who he had always followed.

i cant see franklin coming back.

doesnt really bother me. player trading is a wasted exercise most of the time anyway. always have to pay above the odds and for some reason they dont seem to the same player they were at their previous club.

im just glad we werent so $hit poor last year to get him.

What about the clubs shocking player retention record?

Have a Bex, you seem a bit too serious for your own good.

Laugh, you'll feel alot better.

Nice call mate

This is for all those who still question Buddy's attitude:

"Franklin was the talk of the match and our task is to make sure we get that sort of performance from him every week. There were suggestions before he came to the club that his attitude could be faulted but all I can say is that from the day he walked through the door here at Glenferrie, we have had to hold him back from all the extra work he wants to do."

Underrating Roughhead abit ey?

Franklin = Tarrant/Riewoldt
Roughhead = Leppitsch

Yeah, agreed. I have always seen roughead as a Justin Leppitch type player. Although he is probably a better pack mark than Leppitch. Good analogy with both of those players. If Franklin becomes a Reiwoldt and Roughead a Leppitch, we'll be VERY happy!!
