Guys,

Just doing a little research on my Saturday Metrop database and noticed something a little odd.

Out of my own curiosity anyone know why Unitab doesn't provide late mail on Saturdays on the major Melbourne meeting. They do for Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth but stopped doing it about 1 year or so ago for Melbourne. Not sure why that is the case...

Or anyone know any other site that does provide the Late Mail for Melbourne?

Vic TAB doesn't provide it anymore for Victorian meets either.

It's a bit strange. I'm guessing someone owns the trademark on late mail for Victorian racing and when they asked for more money to continue doing it Tabcorp baulked, otherwise any old person could collate it as it wouldn't be tough to do. It's just someones tips. I always thought they mirrored Lester pretty well.

It's not something you'd really want to be following religiously. They just throw a name up for the sake of it half the time. There is no great science behind it.

That would be because Lester moves markets on a Saturday morning with his tips. If you like something at double figures make sure you back it before 8am because it will be halved in 20 minutes if he tips it. I'm not sure how much of that is weight of money or just them winding it in because they know the money will come.

I love how Sky has a tipster on in the morning and give their tips and then they are on track race day and give their 'late mail' just before the start of a race which is exactly the same as their 'early mail' … it would appear the mounting yard means SFA.

The next morning on racing retro, Dufficy: 'Everyone could see she was fat as a house in the yard' everyone except the people who do the 'late mail' and are supposed expert tipsters who put in tireless hours.

Two people i have some opinion of that work for Sky are: Jason Bonnington on the trots, easily their best expert tipster and to a slightly lesser extent, Mark Guest. The rest, lol, i wouldn't want to be in a punters club with them.

Have never trusted the late mail concept.

I witnessed how an ex-race caller used to do the late mail on the night before the meeting in 2 minutes.
