I would like to see us regenerate by replacing all our assistant coaches except for Eade. Bring in some fresh ideas under Bucks. I think Bucks is the man to take us forward. He has had some bad luck with injury and he couldn't control some of the things that happened in games like Cloke missing a goal from 15m out. Throwing away golden opportunities when we had leads against Bulldogs and Crows didn't help confidence either.
The one thing that puzzles me though is why we continue to draft players with less than AFL standard foot skills. Hawthorn proved that the model is to only pick players that can kick with high efficiency. I don't want to list all our guys with poor kicking but it's pretty big. That just means we give the opposition more of a chance to get the ball back off us.

Well I think you might be going overboard here. Beams is a bit of a worry on the defensive side as many have said recently. However, he's generally well liked and does a good job. The rest of the guys you mentioned would be kept. Maybe Cloke should be traded. He just doesnt seem to be doing the job anymore. We dont necessarily want a blank canvas. We just want to move on players and coaches who arent popular.

EFA, to be consistent with your strategy for replacing coaches, players, second line assistants, presidents, board members and anyone else BF posters believe should be dropped, sacked or traded.

Your post confused me at first. I'm not the smartest guy around town and I was a bit lost about what it meant. I thought EFA was something to do with environmental stuff so I had to look it up. I also saw you changed performing to popular and I can see what you meant. However, I would put it back to you that players etc who are popular will be performing and vice versa. Sure there are going to be the odd exception to that. I can think of guys like Lumumba is a classic example of someone who wont be popular, doesnt matter what he is doing. He just doesnt fit in and needs to be moved on. The other example is Buckley himself and I doubt he will ever be either popular or performing. But let's say that he actually got the team to a premiership, I doubt he would be popular. .....then again....maybe... I suppose we heard a few good things about him when the team was going well earlier in the year. Funny, that makes the BF crowd appear fickle and we know that couldnt be the case...

Anyway, it was a good suggestion but I'm happy with the strategy of keeping players, coaches etc who are performing. I think its a transparent approach that everyone can understand and addresses the frustrations of the membership....and it can and should start today. Fast, simple decisions .....and we should start with Bucks and his crowd clearing out their offices today and some new people with fresh ideas installed on Wednesday.

btw ( i learnt that one in recent months). Thanks for the input. I really want this new strategy to be embraced by the BF community. I think it addresses a lot of the issues that have been raised in recent months. If we flesh it out and promote it, then the club might adopt it and we could see it in operation. I'm convinced that a fast decision making approach will deliver a premiership asap.

Markfs winning the Collingwood board in a canter this week.

I think we need to include the President and board in the strategy of only keeping people who are performing. Eddie has not been performing, in the sense that he is ultimately responsible for the team. Ed out, Markfs in I think. (for now).

I'm speechless. I've spent years trying to be popular on BF and this taste of it has only fuelled my fire. I promise to continue to look for strategies and other methods to ease the frustrations of the average BF poster.

As for the Presidency.....lol... well there are others who are far better prepared than I am. Several people here have their own blogs and other forums that promote their vision of a successful Collingwood. However, I can understand your method in nominating me. I appear to be the one with the easy answers at the moment and these are the people who we need to seek out and slot into positions of authority within our club. I'm sure that I can give a good account of myself for at least a week or two. And I can make the promise here. When my star fades, I will sack myself. And thats the magic of this new model of operating. After a while, coaches, players and officials will just see that they are just not performing and will throw the towel in and give another person an opportunity......all for the good of the club. I just hope that Ed makes it an easy transition...for the sake of the club.

Maybe we can have a succession plan between you and Ed... Perhaps Ed would be happy to embrace a new role as "presidency director" i.e. yourchief advisor... I only suggest this because of how well it has worked in the past!

I just had this strange vision of Eddie conducting a media conference in the middle of Visy Park - which I remind everyone is named after a company that colluded with a competitor to fix prices in the cardboard market.

In your vision is Jeannie Pratt nearby? If that's true, then it's a very scary vision... A nightmare. Price collusion aside, who's BBQing the snags?

Pointing out Reid hasnt played at either end of the ground this year is not re-writing history. Nor is pointing out Dawes/Wellingham/Thomas etc have been shit since they left!
You know fully well I'm referring to your we needed a rebuild tripe.
As for Reid...I'm giving you a leg up by suggesting his move up forward can be construed as something remotely positive Bucks has implemented but you being a nitpicker extraordinaire keep waffling on about something irrelevant...
I understand your penchant for circular arguments about nothing that lead nowhere but go on forever but I don't do that, stick with the trusted Monkey King.

So for the last time, bust/confirm the myth that says Bucks can coach or forever hold your peace.

Jury out obviously. As it is on about 15 other coaches at the moment.

Collingwoods number one issue at present is its player management. if we can get our players on the park we will know what they can achieve and indeed whether Buckley can coach. Could Malthouse coach when we had a bad year in 2005? Can Roos coach? Could Bomber Thompson coach in 2006? Could Hardwick coach after 6-8 rounds this season?

I would have thought the number one issue was winning games.

btw I like your questions. How about these ones? Can Tony Shaw coach? Can Mark Neeld coach? Can Michael Voss coach?

or you can try some combinations.... Can Tony Shaw coach better than Mark Neeld? Can Nathan Buckley coach better than Michael Voss?

These can keep people occupied for hours...

Not winning games is the symptom not the cause.

The number one issue about why we are not winning games is that we have too many injured players. Our player management needs serious review.

Under Mick we go 15, 9, two GF's then right down the bottom again in 2004/05. Who could wreck a list that way? I mean how could you be trending upwards, be a premiership contender two years running then be bottom of the ladder?

Buckley took over in 2012 when we were already trending down. The latter part of the 2011 season was already under the skids and anyone who saw that remembers that. Brisbane and the Bulldogs almost beat us and Geelong smashed us. The wheels were falling off as they have now with Port.

Collingwood has been up for a ridiculous amount of time in the 8 and without a COLA, it is very hard to sustain that level. But just as we are rebuilding the team without even our 1st round picks from last year debuting the sharks are out.

For some reason, I got a flash from my youth when I used to do maze puzzles by starting at the end and working backwards....

I really liked Leon, he was not past it but chose to to reach a deal with the club. Undoubtedly he was near the end either way.

I'd like to move on Matty Lappin since it's been our forward that has been the biggest issue. It's interesting that the only forward that has been able to be developed under Lappin is Jamie Elliot who plays a similar style to the way Lappin did.

I might disagree with this but at least its on topic so kudos.
Basically what you're saying the myth is still plausible as we haven't had the best cattle on the park but IMO we got most of our players back half way through the last season and underperformed massively anyway, unlike the year before when we performed quite admirably when you take injury toll, transition and unfortunate circumstances at the end of the year into account. Thats why this year was always going to be a tiebreaker for me in regards to Bucks' coaching prowess. So while the myth might remain plausible yet there are lot of factors that suggest it will be busted sooner rather than later and those who blindly support Bucks going forward are only doing it based on sentimentality and wishful thinking.

The club will give Buckley a decade I hope. MM got his time and Eddie supported him when we dropped away in 2004/5, as he should have. If we were Richmond we would have dropped Malthouse in 2006. It would be foolish to drop Bucks now as we're heading back up the curve.
