What's everyone opinion of Duggan?

I think he has huge potential. Given more responsibility next year he may struggle to find his feet but I feel he is the type of person to fight through it and come out a hardened player.

Attributes I like:

Tough. Not many people see huge Dixon running towards them and thinks ( Ill just break that dudes tackle). He isn't afraid of hard contact and can put players down.

Takes the game on.

I see Duggan a little like Yeo a couple of years back. Yeo was clearly given the direction to take the game on and try to do the big things and I believe Duggan has been given the same instruction. Meaning the coaching staff see something in him. Yes it is getting him in trouble now but it will pay off soon.

Has great skills

We saw it in his first year. It is there. For some reason, maybe the extra bulk, maybe its the different roles he has been asked.

We know his shortcomings of course.

What do you guys make of him? Do you think he will end up in the middle? Maybe on the wing primarily?

Bottom ager - almost a full year younger than his peers in his draft year.

Will take time to get there but will be a player.

2-3 years from hitting his best.

Is that Matt Priddis in your AV?

And yeah i think we are harsh on Duggan. He's been played all over and finally looks settled in defence. A full preseason training as a HBF will do him wonders.

He will be a good half back flanker but no gun mid which is why he was drafted. Cant find the ball enough and cant break tackles haven't given up on him to be a B+mid but am struggling to see it.

Will be a good user from the half back line but imo they are worth jack all unless you have line breaking pace which unfortunately he doesnt he can however be a solid player just not a great one.

Not saying he'll be as good, but I can see him in the Luke Hodge mould.

In the long term i'm not really worried about Duggan at all, has enough attributes to have a long career.

Problem is that he might just be another good half back flanker, much like his U18 highlights would suggest. Which would be fine if we weren't so dire in the midfield.

If this guy wants to play the way he is trying to play, he needs to be crushing it in the gym this offseason and get more physical powerful.

Time after time this season he would try to take on tacklers.......problem is, i rarely saw him manage to break one.

I love what he is trying to do, but at the moment hes got the build of Andrew Gaff and trying to play like Dustin Martin

He needs Sam Mitchell to mentor him as well.
Learn how to be elusive.

Liam is a tough one for me, I really like his attack on the footy and his willingness to take the game on but his skills are his downfall.
In my time in footy I have never seen a bloke have his kicks smothered as often as Liam does, now that is just poor decision making which he can fix but ultimately add to that I think he is a poor kick who misses way to many targets.
Unfortunately there is little that can be done about his kicking skill now but hopefully he can work with his coaches on his awareness and decision making.
Don't see a midfielder in him at all and hopefully a solid half back is about where it's going to be for him.
He is still young but he has played 46 games now and it is a concern he still has these major deficiencies. I am at the point of what we saw this year is what we got.

Duggan has a great appetite for the contest and goes hard at it, but his skills so far have been terrible, needs to hit the gym hard core so he can break a tackle.

Still worth pumping games into as there is potential there.

Loved the move of Duggan to Half Back. The game has moved on from old positions and its now a few key bigs, a ruckmen, a few quick forwards and a bunch of midfielders. Having a midfield type like Duggan in our backline is important as we move forward.

Has shown some good attributes:

- Has shown he is tough and goes in hard.
- Has some pace
- Generally a good kick but this year it has been a bit iffy compared to 2015

He just needs to work on his disposal and production as a mid but he did rack up the ball well enough in the backline. I think he is a player that if he isn't having any impact mid game as a mid he should be played down back. Some extra work with Mitchell over the summer should be very handy.

People harping on about his attempted tackle breaks over and over...

You act like he gets it, runs his full length, takes a bounce, sees a tackler and then tries to run over the top of them...

He gets sold into trouble FFS, often by some crab who panics and sets him up.

It's purely an instinctive thing as he has very little time to react. You've got to put it in perspective.

Agree with this and many of our players put their team mates in bad situations, it actually happens at all clubs as they are all coached to handball as soon as they get it. Some just do it better than others.
But his kicking is poor in my view.
