LACK OF RECRUITS PROMPTS RUCKMAN TO HEAD FOR SUNBURY

Tatura ruckman Tim Little will return to Sunbury this season, seemingly unimpressedwith the club’s lack of recruiting and the departure of coach Malcolm Noble.
The 26-year-old best and fairest, one of the few shining lights in an otherwise miserable year for the Bulldogs last year, said yesterday the lack of recruits had made his decision easier. Little was one of the league’s major signings a year ago and he played for the Goulburn Valley and Victoria Country at representative level last year. ‘‘I did enjoy my year at Tatura last year,’’ he said. ‘‘It was tough to be involved in some big losses but I think the group we had reallyworked hard. But when Malcolm left and the club hadn’t picked up many players it made the decision to stay at home easier. I didn’t really want to have another year like we did this year.’’ Little, who lives at Riddells Creek, played the previous five years at Sunbury in the Ballarat Football League. Sunbury will this year be coached by Western Bulldogs’ Brownlow medallist Tony Liberatore. ‘‘I had a few clubs ring, but I was never going to put myself in a position to play against Tat or anything like that,’’ he said. ‘‘As it is it’s basically my home club and I’ve got lot of family and friends around the place. ‘‘I think Tatura understood where I was coming from, and there’s no hard feelings or anything like that.’’ The Bulldogs lost coach Malcolm Noble as coach last month when, according to the club, both parties agreed to go their separate ways. Noble has not commented publicly on the reasons why he did not fulfil the second season of a two-year contract
Premiership player and former under-18s coach Paul Serra was appointed senior coach two days later

Am I seeing a small shift in the big picture?
Locals coaching at the smaller towns (Tat/Euroa)!, recruits of the last couple of years leaving!
What do the clubs do now?.. Spend to replace, or swallow their pride and try to ride the next few years out with the establishment of youth from within.
It seem that bandaids are very, very expensive nowdays.
