Thought instead of clogging up other random threads might be good to have a thread to discuss local footy with other dees fans.

Sando22 surprisingly, that loss to doveton wasn't my worst loss.

Good call.
I think we've all played in the odd stinker here or there mate.

I just happen to have mates who play for terrible clubs :P

Jesus, how bad was the team you were playing in that got belted by Doveton? I played Doveton in a practice match last year and they were far from scary.

Terrible. Struggled for numbers. The coach went to divvy 4 ammos and tried to get a few players down. They struggled there too

Was it all ex-pats?

Well, to be honest I did most of my best stuff at the Ledbury Hotel drinking pints of Guinness or scrumpy. I did manage to make it to the odd rugby practice with the lads but I really wasn't very good.

Not many aussies around there back then.

Its just apple cider that is cloudy, cheap and not very fizzy. Can actually be very nice, but like all things that are cheaper can be horrible too.
So flat apple cider that is most likely served warmish and with a strange cloudiness?
I'd go for that!

I played for Wynnum Vikings in the 90's. We went 3 seasons without a win and it got to the point where a few of us would play in both ressies and A's just to keep the numbers up. Our motto was "we can't play footy but **** we can drink"

There's a team in my league that a few players do that. Always fun to keep a bloke goalless in the reserves, then watching him play seniors and kick a bag lol

They won a flag - or at least played in a GF a few years back ... you jumped off too soon!!

I have no idea what scrumpy is but it sounds sh*thouse!

It's the pommie version of moonshine apple cider. Traditionally made in big open vats, they were notorious for small rodents falling in and becoming part of the brew. Apparently added to the flavour. Very cheap and very alcoholic, essential qualities required in a pint to help one get through an English winter.

Yeah I finished up in 1999 due to back and hammy issues at the age of 30. We were starting to come good as a side with some good younsters coming through. We won a flag in 2003 then back to back in Div 1 in '08 & '09. Made finals next couple of years. This year marks the clubs 50th year in the comp. Good times at that club and have made lifelong mates that I catch up with regularly. Also played for Coorparoo for a couple of seasons and one season at Springwood.
