2nds Lockyer's winning debut

On the Collingwood front, supporters will be thrilled to hear that Goldsack and McCarthy appear to have put their injuries behind them in the lead up to the season proper.

Rookie-listed players Tom Gordon and Jack Perham were standouts with Gordon assuming Prestigiacomo-like duties, reliably punching away numerous entries for the entire match. Perham was a force up forward booting five straight goals along with VFL hopeful Jake Walsh.

I think Jake Walsh might be Geoff's Son;)

Good to hear Perham and Gordon did well

#53 looked good. Showed some decent pace & skill. No idea who he is.

Perham & Reilly were both good I thought, took some nice marks on the lead & contested, kicked a decent bag of goals between them.

J Mac played in the VFL praccy match this afternoon. He was talking to the physio about his shoulder (which was strapped) at half time.

Rounds, Ugle & Hunter played, but I didn't notice them do much. Unlikely that they'll play tonight.

Goldy played, looked like he was the de facto captain & was clearly a cut above the other players. Hopefully he'll be right for a return to the seniors soon.

Any idea who the big bloke wearing #9 was, Walsh perhaps? Played tall in the forward line, also took some nice grabs & kicked a few goals.

would be a good story like jurrah, but if we couldn't get jurrah, i dont think we'll get this guy.

We could have had Jurrah easily, but we cracked it when he went home for family reasons. With no contact from Pies, he went and played in Darwin where he was spotted by other clubs. If he didn't go to Darwin, we could have snaffled him with our last rookie pick. But Eddie and co felt slighted about his departure and spat the dummy.

Are you sure on that? He was playing in our VFL side and then Melbourne took him with the #1 selection in the PSD so we couldn't rookie him even if we wanted to. The only way we could have drafted him was to use a live pick meaning we would of had to delist someone for him or not get Leigh Brown.

So no one knew about him when he was playing for us in the VFL but he goes back to Darwin and suddenly he's on everyone's radar?? That doesn't quite add up.

err, that is totally incorrect HarryO.

He played for our VFL side, we wanted to draft or rookie him, but he didn't nominate for the draft after he went home for family reasons.

Rupe applied to the AFL for special dispensation for him to be allowed to drafted despite not having nominated. The demons then swooped with Pick 1 in the PSD and the rest is history.

We couldn't take him in the normal draft as he hadn't nominated, then when special dispensation was granted - he was taken at the very first opportunity.

Harry O is right in that if we were smarter we could have had him , and we decided that we didn't want him. But he is incorrect stating that it had anything to do with him going back to NT and the club cracking the shits.

Alot of people know the facts of the story due to a close connection with Jurrah and the club , and a subsequent meeting with some club officials.

Then why did we NOT want Liam?

They mis-handled LJ when he got here. He played for OX & the culture shock there was too great there.

DTM, Walsh is his son, plays/played for Old Trinity last year. Brother of the guy who got drafted to the WB. Just an average A Grade player at best.
