So I'm at a pub in the city and it looks like some uni student has left a bag behind. Should I look through it to find contact details or just hand it in? It's not a handbag, looks like a bag just to carry notes etc...

What would you do in a situation like this?

I'd look for contact details, and if I don't find anything, I'd leave it at the pub's lost property. Either way, I wouldn't try and steal anything from it.

Lots of hard work can go into making notes throughout a semester, so I'm sure he/she would appreciate its return. You'll also feel funny in your pants because of your generosity.

kid at my footy club recently found a girls wallet on a bus.....very honest good kid so he took it to the nearest police station......i told him he should have looked for her i.d. and if she was cute to take it to her place in person to try and claim a "reward"

Another vote for trying to return it yourself first. You know you're trustworthy; you don't know whether the bartender is.

If there's nothing to identify the owner then leave it behind the bar.
