Justin Bonomo tweeted that he was playing the 25K at the aria when a player was escorted out after it was discovered he had paid for the $125 tournament and took a seat in the 25K lol...had built quite a stack apparently!

The chips were removed from play... imagine if you'd be knocked out by him earlier.....

Over time, the smarter people on the forum either have little incentive to post, or generally don't, so as

- CheckRaiseULight
- Juddy
- a few others who's name escape me right now

Obviously conversation is a two way street, and after a while if you post and don't hear a voice back you go insane I guess. Personally I haven't posted much because I haven't played much (or won much, its a lot more fun posting hands when you have big winning sessions and tournaments rather than "bubbled a $1k again")

If I had any sway here, I would possibly look to make poker a "catch-all" thread rather than a full sub-board, since for people who follow BF through "watched threads" would see when a post is made easier rather than looking at the poker board, but that is just my opinion on a lot of these smaller boards. Move the thread to general sports and discussion and move on IMO.

For example, on 2+2 in "Sporting Events" I think a lot of the smaller sports their (AFL, rugby union, cricket, darts, snooker) survive well as single threads, rather than a thread for "AFL 2015 season" "State of Origin NSW vs QLD" etc, but that is just me.

I've actually enjoyed following your posts in the BBV thread, I just haven't felt I could offer much in response since I rarely play online MTTs.

Yeah, I just like to post and see if anyone wants to give feedback. It's also interesting to watch as I develop my skills and improve and see what I am learning and where my holes still are :)

I think its a bit of a reflection of the poker climate at the moment

I post less than I used to, but still look at the board nearly every day but overall there isn't really a lot of good news to discuss overall

It feels like poker is in a holding pattern between collapse or flourishment and we are all waiting on the US to take some big action and then down here we are hoping some clarification on where poker stands. Pokernews aren't reporting on the WSOP so it kind of feels like that's happening in the background, tracking results or following sweats seem harder than it is now.

Ironically I'm playing more than I ever have lol

agree with this.

for those of you who aren't aware (i haven't checked the crown fred lulz) rake has gone up again (50% in the 5/5 which is where i play most), think it has gone up substantially on 2/4 as well.

to compensate for the absurd rake .40c from each hand goes into a royal flush jackpot. flop a royal and win it, on the weekend it was around $25k from memory. obv you're now stacking off pre with q10s.

Ironically, during the recent series here in Perth, someone mentioned the idea of a royal flush jackpot or something similar as a way to reward players etc... and bring in casual punters with a nice big number to win, like a jackpot in Caribbean Stud, perfect pairs in blackjack etc...

The rake increase is weak though, poker is really at a crucial juncture right now not just online but live as well. I wonder if the issues at APPT China might have an influence in how Stars market their live tournaments here in Aus and NZ.

It's 10 years since Hachem's win and it feels like poker in Australia needs another shot in the arm like that. Hey, aren't you heading to Vegas around ME time... ;)

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't pointing any fingers. I've been as inactive as any of late, both on the poker forum and on the felt.

Actually played my first hand for 6 months last night in a home game. Seems it worked in my favour as I finished ahead. Even cracked my brother's flopped K-high flush with a rivered full house.

I dipped out of poker about four years ago, but have recently started playing again. Just reading around its a bit sad how bad the "poker bubble" seemed to burst, considering how hot it was when it was hot. Can't believe its been 10 years since Hachem won.

Bubble had to bust.
Only game in the world where newbies are ridiculed rather than encouraged,
How do you continue to grow the game when potential participants are being driven away?

Online it's terrible thanks to the anonymity of it all. I don't see the point of telling someone they played s**t, we want them to play that way even if they suck out on occasion

It's something i am eradicating from my game

I never complain about bad beats and rarely apologise when dishing one out.
A lot of intermediate players get confused when calculating outs and pot odds and lash out even when in the wrong.
The other thing that we have to realise is that not everyone plays to win!

Surely everyone plays to win? People don't just want to dump money

I think it can depend on the level you play. I'm purely a super micros player online, so to say I play predominantly for fun would be correct. It's definitely nice to win some cash, and I'd love to be a better player, but my various runs of not cashing haven't deterred me from playing.

I've been to Vegas a handful of times, and love playing the low-level tournies there. Do I expect to cash often? No. Am I okay with that? Yes. As long as I get an evening's entertainment, it's all good.

Now, if someone's playing at much higher levels just for fun, and dumping money, then for their sake I'd hope they have the sufficient disposable income.

Everyone plays to win, but due to the nature of the game (this isn't a magic money tree) some people have to not be winning in the long term.

So people either

a) Are playing to win, and winning
b) Are playing to win, are breakeven or losing but don't know it or admit it.
c) Are playing for other reasons, a night out, a challenge etc...

B is by far the largest group at the lower ends of the poker economy, through a combination of denial, creative analysis of their results (if only I ran good) and incorrect accounting of their results (its amazing how many people mincash a $100 tournament for $250 and assume they won $250, rather than $150).

AA in the small blind at crown 5/5 against good aggressive reg.

$1k effective stacks.

he raises to 25, button calls, we make it 100. He calls, button folds.

flop q 10x 4x. We bet $145. He calls.

Turn is an off suit k.

We do what? With a plan to do what? We have Ax.
