The club must be doing something right as it has now secured Swan, Pendles, Thomas and Dawes despite big $$$ being offered. Also don't forget Cloke the year before. Despite the obvious of wanting to play in a great team I wonder how much of this revolves around the Bucks factor

Dawes is on the trade radio station at the moment, and every time he speaks, you basically love him more.:thumbsu:

Dawes' saying he knew about the salary cap issues at the club, but he keeps saying he wouldn't leave just for money, and that it wasn't even a real consideration for him.

He was asked about Toovey, and he thinks that Tooves will stay, and that in the end he will stay for less money then he could get elsewhere.

Sorry to crash your board, however I am listening to Dawes speak on Trade Week Radio, and you guys should be extremely happy and proud of him. Talented player and seems like an outstanding bloke.

He has touched on a number of things that every club would be desperate to have in their players and player group and any club would be lucky to have this bloke, having said that, after listening to him speak, I would give my left nut if he ever plays for any club other than Collingwood.

He is a seriously decent person.

Give it a month before Pendles is linked to a GWS move next year. Hopefully the CBA is done soon so he can extend his contract ASAP... hopefully with a line on it to do with captaincy :D

The fact Dawes came out long ago and said he was going to stay (unlike Thomas, for example) made a lot of Collingwood supporters rest easy.

Again, Dale Thomas openly spoke about rejecting GWS as an option as far back as the Queen's Birthday - He could not have been more clear about his intention to resign with Collingwood.

The only thing Daisy ever said was that his intention was to sign with Collingwood, and that the reason the contract wasn't signed was due to his management and Collingwood still working out the details, and not due to his intention to look anywhere else.

People crapped on about his contract, saying "I won't believe it until he's signed", but his statements were NEVER any different than Chris Dawes' words - It's unfair to characterise them that way, and the fact that nobody believed him doesn't mean that he didn't do just as much to attempt to ease fans' minds as Dawes did.

Considering that Dawes didn't sign for almost a month after Dale Thomas signed his deal, one could suggest that he did much MORE to suggest that he might go.
