Magic bring in Alston

I don't think so. Still no chance against the big 2 without Meer.

The guy is a leader for us, it's not just the x points and x assists per game with Nelson.

Alston putting them in contender status?

I'm banking on Meer getting back (does anyone know if thats possible?).

But Alston can shoot, so now it realyl all rests on Turk being able to distribute and Howard continuing to have monster games.

Obviously they're a dark horse compared to Cavs/Celtics, but I think they're a chance (a small one).

The Rockets seem to think he is after shopping both alston and head.

I like this trade. I'm hopin the shoulder isn't bad and doesn't need surgury. Alston can hold the ship together then Meer back a couple of weeks before playoffs and yeh

The rox got Kyle Lowry out of it (who I like better than Brooks as well), so it's not like they just gave Rafer away.

lol no. Lowry doesn't really help them at all. more undersized at the pg position, and Lowry could never really shoot (more of a rich man's young Anthony Carter) and the Rockets heavily rely on shooting. at least he's younger..

He announced weeks ago that he is having it. No chance he'll play again this season unfortunately.

Just at the AS weekend he was debating to the OS whether to have the surgury saying he's talked to Bryant and other who have had similar injuries and they said you may not need it.

All done now though.

You really struggle with the concept of defensive value, don't you?

talk for the cameras man. It was decided the day after the injury that he was done for the season. They announced it publicly a few days later.

I think this is a pretty good trade for Magic. With Nelson not going to play again this season they needed an upgrade at the point as Johnson and Lue were not going to keep them in contention. Alston can hit the open 3 an will be a good addition. I thought his absence in some games last year really cost Houston. PLus the Magic basically got him for nothing anyway.

Houston Im not sure of. Sure Brooks is an ok player but not starter material. Would be glad they got Lowry though, who really should be their starter after this trade.

I would've rathered a more steady assist and distribute player than Rafer but it's better than the AJ and Lue combo no doubt. His sparadic shooting scares me though. We now have Shard, Turk AND Rafer than can combine for 5-30 shooting nights if it all goes bad. :o Still it gives us a faint hope of contention compared to zero.

Offers a great combo for next season too.

He, like Jameer, is a great court leader. Can hit dagger 3's and give our bench some MUCH needed scoring.

This year, he can float the boat and help us get to the playoffs with some form.

With all those 3's and Dwight, you never know.

Out of all the trades that went through my head, i didn't even think about Alston being moved. I thought we were stuck with him forever. I think he will work out ok for the Magic ok but I always have been annoyed with him at Houston. Just when he gets a bit of consistency in his game, he seems to turn into the 1-12 4 TO Rafer we've seen too much of. He has the talent though and I think he will really team up well with Dwight, he's been stuck with waiting for Yao to run the floor the last couple of seasons and I think he could be a solid addition for him.

As for Houston's side of things, i really don't know what to think. After pissing off Rudy Gay and Green in the past few seasons for some ok players, I don't really see the point of bringing in Kyle Lowry..Maybe they know something I don't know and I really hope so but at the moment it seems like a "better than nothing" trade instead of trying to get a need - a guy that can score similar to old T-Mac
