Some updates on Mal's knee, all sounds pretty good.:thumbsu:

"Keeping mum all part of the cure, says Malceski" - The Age

Highlights

Malceski said he was now "confident in both my knees, they are stronger than they have ever been". Asked if he thought the knee problem would prevent him reaching previous heights, he said: "You'd have a weak mind if you did that."
Malceski says next year he will be able to focus more on his leadership skills rather than his own problems. And he expects the team to be a faster outfit.

"We're working on moving the ball quicker, like other teams are doing. There are a few teams doing zone defence and I'm sure every club has been practising how to cut up that zone.

"Hopefully with the running players such as Marty (Mattner), Tadhg (Kennelly), Rhyce (Shaw) and myself, we can do that. We just need to play more of an attacking game when we have got the footy."
While he played 11 games this season, they were not at the level that made him one of the Swans' standouts in 2007.

He said it was the result of a lack of match fitness, rather than his knee, and believes he can get back to his best in 2009.

"I had a couple of all right games but nothing to how I was in '07. But the way I look at it, nine other blokes did their knees this season around the same time as me and I played 11 games and those guys played none. I just feel grateful to have played those 11 games last season."

Re-assuring to read that, confirmed my hunch at the time that it would take him a while to get his confidence back as is usually the case with ACL injuries. The advantage with the new surgery was that at least he played a few games this year, compared to none if he'd had the traditional surgery!

Was Thornton given the opportunity? He did his a week or so later, and yet was on the traditional recovery, meaning he didn't play all year and was subsequently delisted.
