Firstly, sorry to all of those that clicked on this thread in search of poo. But the mass droppings that have occurred in the Australian team may be a better move than they look. Despite our test team starting to become an Australia A team, look at what it's done to those that have been dropped.
Martyn: It's hard to say he's not in good touch looking at what he's been up to lately.
Clarke: Immediately went to work on his game and came out of it with plenty of runs, and is also doing very well in ODIs.
Gillespie: Has been bowling extremely well, cleaning up Victoria with a 7fer one innings.
Kasprowicz: Has been sharing the wickets with Andy Bichel, but still has been taking a lot of wickets.
Katich: Doing well in ODIs and scored a century in State cricket IIRC.
Also to come out of it, we've discovered a new superstar in Hussey. Dropping these players has really made them jump into action, and now they're all arguably in as good form as ever. And being in the Test team would hardly help them improve their games in the lead-up to the Ashes anyway. Easy kills like the West Indies and South Africa wouldn't help them improve their games as there is no pressure. State cricket is normally evenly matched and gives opportunities for players to really stand tall in competitive matches.
Although I was against these mass droppings at first, I'm actually quite glad now that these players weren't just playing a role in comprehensive floggings against the West Indies and have actually spent the summer playing competitive cricket.
