Looking at the matchups i'd play McPhee up forward to provide a mobile target across half forward.

Then defensively i'd be looking at the following:

Goal line:

L.Jurrah - Dempsey can match him for pace and size, possibly exploit him on the rebound.

R.Robertson - Pears can dominate the old bludger on the goal line.

M.Bate/J.Watts - Fletcher can handle either depending on how they start.

Half forward line:

C.Sylvia - McVeigh - sylvia has performed well against us in the past. Spike can match his pace and no issues overhead.

B.Miller - Hooker. Looks an ideal matchup for Hooker size wise. Miller would be too tall/strong for mcphee so hooker to start CHB for mine.

B.Green - Welsh given Green is a bit taller than Sylvia I think Welsh is better suited over McVeigh. His first game back playing out of defence rather than onball should suit.

Onball:

McLean - Watson to go head-to-head.

C.Bruce - Hocking to do the run-with role.

Tag:

Aaron Davey (hbf) - Winderlich to play accountable HFF role on aaron davey. Has the pace to match and could exploit him in marking contests and become a goalkicker.

Now THAT would be a free lesson for the young boy, courtesy of Essendon.

Anyone know the likely Melbourne defensive matchups, I get the feeling Hooker in the forward line might be exposing them for height? Or maybe just mind games from Knights?

R.Robertson - Pears can dominate the old bludger on the goal line.

Pearsy will give him a bath as long as Robertson doesn't start singing to put him off.

I reckon welsh or monfries will take davey. I hope welsh does, because he is capable of kicking goals.

Just switched Hooker and McPhee around. Apart from that I think you are spot on. Great post.
