Injury Mathew Stokes - ankle

I very much admire Stokes' performances for the last 2 seasons. Easily in our top 10 players.

But how bad are we going that we lose Stokes in a match and we lose so much from the team ?

That is not a good sign IMO.

Anyone know how bad the injury is ?

Any update on his injury? Will he be right for this week?
According to the HUN likely to miss, but not 100% certain. So yeah that info adds nothing :D

Not good at all but silver lining - Jansen/Lang/Hartman...or...Schroder

Geez going miss him, his ball winning ability and the way he finds space is invaluable.
Of those 3 you mention I'd say Hartman, Lang, Jansen in that order of preferrence.
Nothing against Jansen but I think we should replace like for like, someone who can win in tight but spread and find space aswell, which I think Hartman and Lang can do to some degree, unsure if Jansen has the speed or fitness for it at this stage (or ability? He is more a pure inside mid isn't he? Not seen much of him to be honest).

See you in a month for the North game Stokesy... If we are fair dinkum this year we should win the next 4 (bombers, dogs, dees, gws) without him anyway, even allowing for our average form!

Surely GHS will come back in, with Caddy and Christensen staying too?

I'd also like to see the other players you list given more games this year, but we need to get Caddy and Christensen back to full fitness, and with the loss of Stokes' experience, plus two underdone players, I'm not sure they'll be dropping anyone else from the midfield. Smedts is another obvious one who's vulnerable, but we need to replace him with a mobile defender (Thurlow?)

GHS is fit should have forced his way into the side even without the injury. Having said that - Jared Jansen? Can't hurt to lean towards the contested side in this situation...

If GHS is fit, he comes in. End of story.

And that's not just as an injury replacement for Stokes. That's purely on the basis that his football this year has clearly better than that of at least half a dozen players that fronted up in the hoops on Saturday night.

Even if Stoker wasn't missing, someone would have had to make way for the Hyphen anyway.

That's... Exactly what I just said...

no he hasnt. Most consistent yes but Selwood has been better and thats before you even take account of the fact Selwood is often tagged and Stokes never is.
Selwood's best has been better than Stokes' best... But we've seen stokes at his best far more often - I'd say because of that he's been our best and our most consistent midfielder overall.

If the "two weeks out" call is morphing into the "between two and eight weeks", we may never see Stokes play for the Cats again!
Why, is he going to be traded?
