Feel for him this week and hope he bounces back as he was one of our champions.

Danny Frawley is the head of the coaches association whose job it is to offer assistance to coaches after they have been sacked.

Did he have anything to do with Wallace last year when he was sacked and would he be involved with Knights. Would appear strange given the history of those blokes.

I think Kevin Sheedy is also a member of that group and given how quickly he swooped on the Wallace departure with his own pitch couldnt imagine him being Wallaces choice and unlikely he would be Knights choice even though Sheeds only comments were on some live chat.

Just wondering how all that would work. Really feel for Knights. I thought a new coach would be pardoned over a poor year and for all the talk about how we are going up where Essendon are nose diving, Ill wait for it to reflect on the ladder.

Then again I dont see my boss giving me 1 million for doing nothing in the near future.

Anyone that takes on the gig of being coach has to be obviously aware of what'll go on if it doesn't work out.

I'm trying hard not to be sympathetic to Knighter, given his ex-Richmond status.

From a pure football perspective Knights is unlucky to be the only one walking. The board that extended his tenure last year should also be axed. It's not all Knights fault apparently one of the reasons he got the job ahead of Hardwick was the fact he wasn't keen to go back to the basics, wanted to continue with Lloyd and co. The minute Lloyd got the chop he went feral in the media and this eventually steam rolled Knights along with Hirds comments.

Comparing him to Voss and his retreaded brigade Knights could feel a little unlucky.

Essendon list is a fair rabble, but I think Knights got the job because he talked it up where as Dimma said that they needed a clean out (obviously correct).

Wonder if he will stay in coaching in an assistant role.

Tough week for Knighter 1st he gets knifed in the back by the club he coached who said on numerous times that they supported him and now is going to get offered support by the bloke who knifed him in the back as a player. Who can you trust?

The joke will be on them when they're bottom 4 for the next three years, and they realise it's their dreadful list and fractured culture that's the problem, not Knights at all.

This:thumbsu:
The sooner Essendon realise it's their dreadful list that is the problem and their incompetent board, they will be a better club.

Does anybody else get the feeling that the minute we appointed Dimma, the curse over Punt rd that has existed for the better part of 25 years has decended over Windy Hill?????

So which Tiger will they try next? Campbell?

It was always going to be hard for Knights, who would have been a player that Bombers fans would have hated. Then to have Hird stick his hand up for coaching, then to put it back down just as quickly didnt help things for Knighter. But im pretty sure that was Hirds intention.

He wasnt a champion he was a good player although his selfish and look at me look at me departure from our great club certaintly took the shine off his good career

IMO if Hird never spoke about Knights and the coaching job, then maybe Knights still would've had this job.

Also, the Essendon board are probably annoyed that Richmond ended up getting Hardwick . But, Essendon had their chance and rejected him.

Am I the only one who reckons the Essendon list isnt too bad? They had so many injuries recently about 10 players could have come into the best 22. You look at this list

Darcy Daniher
Alwyn Davey
Ricky Dyson
Scott Gumbleton
Bachar Houli
Nathan Lovett-Murray
Tayte Pears
Jobe Watson
Andrew Welsh
Mark Williams
David Zaharakis

those are the players that missed Saturday night and while Watson played most of the season they really were undermanned the whole way.

So sad for Knighter I reckon he is really unlucky. Though he now gets 2 years pay for doing not much and will hopefully go back to basics and try and work his way back into a position within the AFl - hopefully at Richmond.

I reckon the next coach of Essendon inherits a pretty good list though.

Don't think hes even played a game since being drafted.
Alwyn Davey
Didn't do much while he was in the side, but I do rate him.
Ricky Dyson
Who? Don't rate him at all.
Scott Gumbleton
The kid has massive upside, is an average kick, and has played the majority of the season will be a good player if he can get his body right.
Bachar Houli
Down hill skier.
Nathan Lovett-Murray
Down hill skier.
Tayte Pears
Is a good young backmen has time on his side.
Jobe Watson
Is the only reason why Essendon can actually win a clearance.
Andrew Welsh
Dont rate at all.
Mark Williams
Done close to SFA in the games he played, they paid way over the odds for him.
David Zaharakis
Super talent will be a star for them.

Parts in red are my thoughts, Essendon have a shite list, if it weren't for players like Fletcher and Hille there situation would have been alot worse this year.

I do believe that Knights game-plan was shit, looks good when it comes off but other then that no real defensive look about the game-plan.

I agree with that last part as regardless of whether people liked Campbell as a captain, he deserved Knights full support. Still think he was above a good player and we cant underestimate what it would have taken to carry duds each week as opposed to be surrounding by good players.

As for his departure, that call was one of Frawleys few correct calls.

I think the his reaction to the loss of captaincy was worse than his departure as all he said when he left was that he felt he had more football in him.

Might not get too much sympathy from Gieshen.

I'd love to see Knighta return to Tiger land in some capacity, think he has been treated poorly but the bombers and hope he lands back on his feet.

Well I for one hope they're very slow on the uptake.:thumbsu:

Judging by the clowns on the main board it will take a long time for it to sink in that it was the quality of the list and not the coach.

But I barrack for Richmond so I don't know anything apparently:
Couldn't happen to a bigger bunch of arrogant ****wits, the only direction they are going is down and Hird is no chance of taking over he is far to smart to ruin his reputation with that train wreck.

Now that would be nice, as much as it wastes time, I am still glad we allowed our last two coaches to finish off their contracts, early sackings of coaches did a lot to destabilise this club.

Knighter deserved everything he got and so did Essendon for picking him without realising their list was awful. They have a rubbish list due to a mix of Sheedy/Knights trying to top up instead of clean out.

As we've seen a few times at Richmond, if you overrate your list it sets you back years. They should have cleaned out completely when Sheedy was sacked and they would have been 6 spots higher on the ladder and rising by now instead of on the way back down.

The thing that really killed them was tripping over and falling into the finals last year when they were possibly the single shittest side to ever make finals.

What I cant understand is bone heads who are hoping that Knights returns to Richmond in some capacity. For those who are this way inclined where do you want Knights postioned in the club??? How about assistant coach? Maybe he could replace Leppa or Lade? Blokes who have obviously had a real impact on the development of all the new kids at the club this year. Or hey why dont we sack Dimma and install Knights as new coach because he is one of our own! A bloke that played about 5 finals out of nearly 300 games, a bloke that was a notorious bag stabing sook who couldnt comprehend when he was finished as a player and had to be told it was time to go.

Wake up people, we have the right structure in place at the moment and Knights is not going to add one thing to our club. fss he thought essendon had a good list 3 years ago. blind freddie could have seen the had an aging list and not to many a grade kids. remindes me of something we saw bout 5 years ago!

My thoughts:

1. Knighter was handed a dud list. Sheedy destroyed any chance of anyone being successful on completion of his time at Windy Hill.

2. I love the fact that Knighter went to Essendon, because l dont want him anywhere near the new Richmond.

3. Our culture is changing and thank **** for that. Any loyalties to players that were involved in the worst days of our history can go and get ****ed.

4. As someone else said, he may have got harsh treatment, but really... did anyone ever expect him to get the job in the first place? At $400k large a year... the bloke has just earnt $2million more than any of us ever expected. No tissues.

5. I love Essendon being the laughing stock of the AFL. Love it even more that Knighter ended Lloyds career. Biggest **** smoker ever to play the game.
