Who? No other player on our list is capable of dropping uncontested marks with the regularity of Tabs. TBH, the only other player I can remember that's ever played for us that's comparable is Spider Burton, and he eventually learned how to do it to an OK standard.

And you reckon i'm being melodramatic? I've got no doubt a halfway competent Taberner (i.e if he held the marks he should have) would have meant we beat Hawthorn in the prelim last year. He's a great athlete, decent enough kick and pretty good man on man for a 22 year old. At the start of the year I said the key for us was the improvement coming from Tabs and Clarke. Sadly neither came good. Add Bennell to that list and I reckon it's the same in 2016.
Blaming Taberner for the Hawks loss is a bit extreme IMO. There were many moments in that game that didn't go to plan. And from memory there was one uncontested mark that was dropped at a crucial time in the game and wasn't Taberner.
But we seem to agree on the point that Taberner is a pretty complete package he just needs to stick some more marks.

Ok worst mark in the league is total bullshit we have worse marks in our team alone.

Mark of the Year - Zac Dawson Round 23 2014

‘Air’ Dawson summoned the spirit of Warwick Capper to soar over the Power’s Jay Schulz, sending Patersons Stadium and Fox Footy commentator Dwayne Russell into delirium.

It seemed Zac himself didn’t believe what he’d just done, handballing off to a teammate in close proximity almost as soon as he’d landed.

Who would of thought the names Warwick Capper and Zac Dawson would one day be used in the same sentence?

Great work, Zac!

Why are we picking on a bloke who is 22 yrs old and has only played 28 games (about half as the sub) when we all agree that KPF's don't usually come good until they are 5-6 seasons in. He has shown improvement every season so far and I think he will improve again next season.

He was on track for kicking 25 goals which at the start of the season we were all saying would be a pass mark.

I think he will kick around 30 goals next season.

Agreed there are some people who have unrealistic expectations of what is a pass mark for a young developing big forward.
He seems to have become the whipping boy for some posters.

Oh, i'm not blaming him for the loss. No more than i'm blaming any other player out there for not being better. But the position he plays is critical to our success, not just for the direct impact he has but for the way he can draw defenders to him and consequently away from other forwards. Taberner playing well means we're much more likely to get better games out of Pavlich and Mayne.

You did say if he was half way competent we would have won so that's blaming him for the loss I'm my eyes.

Yes he plays a crucial roll in the team and he has the potential to become a great forward.
He does draw defenders away from pav and other forwards, he does need to stick more marks but is not as bad as you make him out to be. His early season form was great once he can sustain that form for the whole year we will have the forward that we are gagging for.
I guess what I'm reiterating is he is still maturing and writing him off so early in his career is foolhardy.

It's a big year for Taberner. If he improves he should play the majority of the season at AFL level and if he can make a successful transition from WAFL to AFL in 2016, he'd be pushing up to 2 goals a game which would make a massive difference for us. He consistently achieved 7 marks a game in the WAFL last year and they're working on developing that at preseason training so he can hopefully step that aspect of his game up at the senior level as it's his main means of getting the ball.
