I think the Freo's "brains" trust should consider playing Luke McPharlin in the forward line. Polak would be more than a satisfactory replacement at CHB. Question is though whether to put Mc at FF or CHF cause Pav looks strong at CHF. Polak is not quick enough to hold down a HB or BP position and should be used in a central position. McPharlin has shown in the past he is capable of playing a foward role.

I don't know the answer to your FF problem, but I think you have to make a go of a change. Maybe try McPharlin or Polak with Farmer crumbing and push Medhurst to a half forward flank (Medhurst and Farmer don't seem to blend)

Try it.
But I dont like the thought of messing with what is fast becoming the best backline in the competition.
Much of our drives comes from our half backline and McPharlin is the centre piece.
I still believe we have to stick Murphy at FF and just leave him there to mature.

Good backline but you're deluding yourself with best backline.

I agree with your thoughts about not messing with it but you need a strong FF presence, and Murphy isn't it (and probably wont ever be)

Murphy from what I have seen is the first genuine FF we have ever had. Very premature to say he wont ever be, the only time you can say that a young kid will never be any good is when he has the heart of a pea like in McDougals case.
Frodo my old friend this post will come back to bite you.

Be fair Sabre, I said "probably". That is my opinion on him at the moment but he could change. Look at Chad Fletcher, who would have thought he'd make all Australian?

Doogs is like Staker, IMHO, plenty of ability but still immature. Watch out that Doogs doesn't come back to to bite you, too, in a couple of years :D

what happened to staker on the w/e?

I do remeber CC once saying that McPharlin woud probably end up as a forward but that was before he became so dominant at CHB and before we discovered Murphy.
So leave him where he is

McPharlin probably isn't big enough physically to play in the forward line yet. Hes best off learning the ropes playing on the best CHF the game has, then maybe moving forward when hes bulked up a bit more.

He was very poor. oNly on ground for half the game so clearly Woosha thought so too. I'd expect him to be dropped this week.

will matera get dropped this week too? the old man was as useless as **** on a bull on the weekend. Medhurst/Farmer played a heap better.

Maybe, but I hope not. Players who have serious surgery and no preseason work are at a big disadvantage. Fido was not as good as your two smalls in the derby but giving him AFL action will get him up to speed the quickest way.

ps He's a bit younger than some of your players, and is without doubt the leading small forward in the competition (based upon last year)

Swap Warren for 211; guy plays like a chook. We lose flexibility with 211. I know hes a cult figure and Ripper will probably argue against him but he doesnt do enough to hold his place.

I cant see 211 providing us anything we cannot gain with Warren's 3 tall flexibility.
