The RFC website is now reporting our tally at 826,963 members. This represents a $112 million windfall. I would like to congratulate the marketing department, and particularly the telephonists, who managed to process a little over 800,000 applications last night.

The website now says 26,963.

The only reasonable conclusion one can draw is that a catastrophe has just hit the club with exactly 800,000 members resigning en masse. That does, however, leave a handful of overnight joinees who stayed on. I congratulate them for their hardiness.

I bet the folks catering the sausage sizzle are relieved.

And to think we probably have 800,000 supporters out there. If only we charged them $20 for a membership that would equate to $16m.
