I was perusing some old stats today and was gobsmacked to find that we had no less than 5 players in the top 10 for disposals in 1993.

Anyone got a time machine? Bring back those midfielders and Mods while you're at it ;)

Anyone else have endearing memories of our first tilt at the finals?

Greg Anderson and Simon Tregenza. Who was it that said Adelaide have never had any gun wingmen? :)

Of course with those disposal counts, it helped that we played 23 games that year when most of the competition only played 20.

Averages are still pretty damn good though ;)

Tony McGuinness 28.57
Chris McDermott 25.83
Simon Tregenza 25.00
Mark Bickley 24.48
Greg Anderson 24.18

And what about McDermott and Bickley both pulling equal 2nd in the league game-high disposal tallies of 44?!

Have a look at some of those stats you'll find that the kick to handball ratio is so low it's scary. Especially for Chris McDermott. I think McGuiness was ok, he didn't mind actually kicking it.

Good memories from 1993 and first tilt at the finals - hmmm dunno if it's a good memory or an interesting one.

i went over on the bus with a whole bunch of crows supporters (took good ol' Teddy Modra and Nigel Bear to the game with me too:)) Now on the bus was a family and one son supported hawthorn - had the guernsey etc on. Some good natured ribbing occurs, as it does, on the way over and during the game ;). After the game when both sons had consumed a few and we were all walking back pretty merry to the bus, the boys started a 'mock' wrestle as only brothers can. Now we are laughing and having a good time contemplating that long bus ride home when along come two victorian coppers who proceed to wrestle the boys to the ground, knees in the back, the whole works. There we are, the boys mum, their sister and me all trying to tell the coppers that they are brothers. They will not listen. We finally get it into the thick skulls that we are all to get on the bus, we point to the distance to where the bus is and they 'escort' us there and wait to see us get on the bus and they wait until the bus leaves before they leave. Oh I love the trust from victorian coppers that we rather stay in melbourne than get on the bus that we had the tickets for! We even showed them that!

Nice footy game though, got to chant our jarman's better than your jarman! Ahh the good ol days...

1993 was a sensational season. There are so many magic moments and marks from Modra - that was one super year by him.
I'll never forget the chant of "We're in the finals" from the crowd in the last quarter against Collingwood.
The best memory of all was the first final against Hawthorn. That was my first interstate game for the Crows and the most vivid memory was the noise that erupted when Hawthorn hit the front in the second half. It was such a huge change from the one-sided crowds we have a Football Park. For us to come back against that and win our first final on the MCG was unbelievable.

The Weed flattening Jarman in the first five minutes was gold

Biggest memory from 93 was my half time pis$ in the prelim final. I as so sure I would be going to Melbourne for the grand final.

My pis$ after the game was less than satisfying. I still can't believe we lost that game:(

I loved the "We're in the Finals" chant too - mainly cause we started it :D That was a great game
