Just bought a mobile off a mate for $50 (Nokia n73). I am upgrading from some crappy Sony.

However, my mate must have been with Optus (i am with 3), and i can't change a lot of the settings in the phone (like the message settings etc...) Some of them don't give me a chance to edit, it just gives me a few choices of selecting between different Optus things....

Anyone got any idea if they can actually be changed?

Had a look on the 3 site, can't see anything that you can install onto the phone to change it all? Unless i am overlooking.

Anyone got any ideas? Cheers

back up your phone memory to a memory card and then try a factory reset,

i tried that. Well i formatted it actually. Holding down *, green and 3. But it's still there.

Further investigating sees i can send and recieve SMS's actually, it's just the planet 3 shit. It has all the optuszoo or something there. And its the multimedia SMS i can't change the settings for

sounds like you need a de-branding...

google 'de-branding nokia n73'... there is software and patches etc to do it yourself, but you risk bricking your phone...

are you in sydney? there are mobile phone shops that can do this for you, for about $20-$50...
