Movie software

Anyone got any suggestions as to what software I should buy to create movies on my laptop? The software that came with my video camera is pretty shit and I'm not too sure if you can pick up any movie making software. Any info would be appreciated!

Windows Movie Maker is great for amateur productions, its part of the operating system.

Movie Maker is ok but I want something more advanced than that... I checked it out today and almost bought the Pinnacle Studio Ultimate Edition software for $300! Problem was I didn't have $300!

i use ulead videostudio, you can download a trial from there website.

Final Cut Pro is just about industry standard. I think Napoleon Dynamite was made with that program.
