Is that the worst you've ever heard it sung?

I reckon that the "Star spangled banner" is sung poorly (especially by Mariah Carey at the Superbowl this year, and by *NSYNC at the Winter Olympics), but whoever sung "Advance Austraila Fair" at the Grand Prix, but something truly amazing, they turned an already ordinary national anthem into some extraordinarily bad.

That was the most disgusting version of our national anthem i've ever heard.

It sounds like a dodgy midi track!

They've been using that recording lately for a lot of things (the recent Aus soccer games against Uruguay and France and i know there was more but i can't remember them) and it's the most annoying and amateur-sounding recording ever made.

For a start, what's with the 80's-ness!?!?!?!? That version may have gone down well in 1985, but it's the year 2002. Who is choosing that recording? Is it all just a big joke!?

They're embarressing Australians every time they use it.

As for the singer - i seriously didn't notice as i was too busy laughing (or was it crying?) at the backing track.

Why can't they just use the old standard orchestral recording that they always used to use?

I reckon we should change the National Anthem, and my candidate for the new one would be "Highway to Hell" by AC/DC. Think of the look on the other competitor's faces when we won something at the Olympics.

That was sensational. You, me and 84,999 others.
It's great when the crowd sings along. But it hardly ever happens - it's as if most of them don't know the words.
The best singing of a national anthem in the world is the Wales rugby union fans doing Land of our Fathers. The rugby's worth watching for the national anthem, and for the All Blacks doing the haka, but once the game starts turn the telly off.
And the worst? Ever seen The Naked Gun?

How about Roseanne Barr doing the Star Spangled Banner a couple of years ago at the Super Bowl? BAD! And she got soooo much crap for doing it, too. I guess if you can't sing, don't pretend to 300 million people that you can!!

Some young singer sang the national anthem before a Tigers NBL match and she was brutal. I saw it on TV and all the Tigers players were laughing at her, it was so harsh.

I remember seeing the on THE FAT .They also showed another one late last year.At rugby Union test in NZ,the Aussie singer couldn't perform due to illness,so they got a Kiwi in to do it.

That one was a classic...

What i can't understand is why they didn't put a microphone where all the Aussies were sitting and let them do it...

Tinnie in the hand, in full voice... now THAT would have been better
