Not actually a real thing, just a portfolio

Hey all, I've decided to put some work into an NBL portfolio with an Adidas takeover, using NBA style designs and roundel-ed logos for some of the teams to create a new aesthetic for the league.

I will be starting with the current eight NBL teams, and then I'll be bringing back a few past teams.

Enjoy guys!

ADELAIDE 36ERS

The visuals for the 36ers have been simplified for their home and road jerseys, with a sharper navy being used as opposed to the royal currently used. As will be the case for all teams, the home jersey will include the team's moniker, and the road jersey will be the city name. The alternate is a take on one of the jerseys the 36ers wore through the 90's.

BRISBANE BULLETS

The Bullets have gone with a Cavalier-esque aesthetic across the home and road jerseys, using their existing wordmarks across the front of the jerseys. The alternate is a throwback to the 1985 Championship winning Breakers, and a link to their original colours of blue and gold.

Ah man, this is so awesome. Love your work Freight. Is that a custom template or one available online?

And while it's a pipe dream that the sponsors could ever be so non-obtrusive, I do like to see how it would be anyway. I even forget sometimes that the days of big sponsors on NBL jerseys was happening right back to the early 90s.

I just hate how blank the current jerseys look when a team doesn't have a sponsor!

The template is one I found online, I'm not really sure who to credit for it though.

As for the sponsors, I've gone down the route that the NBA is going next season with the small sponsor patch.

CAIRNS TAIPANS

The Taipans have kept with their usual navy and orange combo, with bone detailing which has been a mainstay through the years at the club, culminating in a "snakeskin" pattern across the side panels of the jerseys. The alternate is a throwback to the clubs original logo and uses bone over white as a light alternate.

These are awesome. I think the base of the current NBL jerseys area nice but they've overdone the sponsors and the designs take a hit as a result. Looking forward to your Wildcats iteration.

These look great! Will you do Melbourne as the Tigers or United?

United - but with a reference to the Tigers past.

All of these designs are done for the current teams BTW guys, but I'm in Melbourne until next week.

ILLAWARRA HAWKS

A cleaned up version of the Hawks' classic word-bar paying homage to the classic Illawarra design. The alternate uniform takes inspiration from some of the more modern NBA designs, using the simple hawk logo for a simple look with red on off-white.

MELBOURNE UNITED

On a personal note, after long reflection, I don't actually mind the Melbourne United rebrand... sorta. As in, I actually quite like the jerseys Melbourne have put out this season with the black/white. Thus, Melbourne United have done away with the navy and have committed to black and grey as their primary colours. The alternate of course pays homage to the iconic Melbourne Tigers.

These look terrific but I have a little bit of feedback. From what I can gather we don't wear Black and Grey. The darker colour is sort of a blue-grey (1a1e29). Also (this is just my thinking here but) I think the V on the home and road kits should have side panels, forming an M shape. I like what you've done with the logo and these sets have been terrific.

I appreciate the feedback dude! The colouring in this case, I know you guys don't currently wear Black and Grey, but I went into a sports store while I was in Melbourne and the current jersey looked basically black - so I thought I'd try do a Brooklyn Nets sorta look.

As for the sidepanels, I did initially try that but the overall balance was off so I scrapped it. But it was definitely my original intention to make the big V, a big M. :)

NEW ZEALAND BREAKERS

The Breakers have delved into their national and Maori ties, with their rebrand centred around the silver fern, as well as Maori patterns. The home and road stick to the classic black and cyan, with the watermarked tribal design through the front of the jerseys, whilst the alternate continues down the name-less NBA jersey path, as a national pride jersey keeping the the black and greys, with the silver fern across the front.

PERTH WILDCATS

The Wildcats have taken the moniker of "the Red Army" to heart, recolouring their logo to reflect this. Jersey-wise, the designs use the script style that the Wildcats have used in the past, with their home an all-red ensemble and the road an all-black ensemble in true Wildcats tradition. The alternate takes from the classic mid 90's Wildcats jersey, however inversed and with the current Wildcats logo across the front.

Not a big NBL watcher, but I would imagine that there would be some rules against the breakers wearing a shirt with 'New Zealand' on it or the silver fern. Love the logo and the designs though.
