I thought this was already known? Word is that it's only going to be a psn/live download game.

Would not even be mad if it just stuck to the same formula as the early games just with updated graphics.

It was announced at Sony's conference at CES last month. nothing on if its exclusive or anything like that. just a surprise announcement with no details.

Played the shit out of THPS2 back in the day. Hours of fun on that game, haven't bothered with any new versions of the games. Have they been any good?
Up to THPS4 were pretty good, after that the changed direction and personally I didn't like them as much. The HD remake of the old ones was good, because it was back to the same style as the early ones.

I thought it was still good with THUG and THUG2. American Wasteland was alright but they messed with the music by having new bands cover Punk classics and they were almost all shit covers. Project8 and Proving ground were shit only good thing in them was the 2 stick flips. and never played Ride because it looked too gimiky with the deck that you used for the game.

the HD remake on PS3 was good but they took some songs out and didnt use some of the better levels and no Multiplayer like horse or paint or any of the other modes.

EDIT: i also remember Proving ground had little arcade machines all over the place that let you have a 2min run in the area like the first 4 games but wasnt as good. It had all the challenges but changed tapes to DVD's. but C-O-M-B-O and scores were still in the run.

The game has a notable drop in quality after THPS4.

After THPS4 the game moved away from the pure skating and it diluted the formula.

THPS2 added the Manual and THPS3 added the Revert, which were technique altering changes and opened up the maps so much more. THPS4 removed the time limit so it allowed for a more calculated approach.

By the time we got to Underground we got the ability to hop off of the board (not necessarily a bad thing), but they also shoehorned in the worst driving mechanics I've experienced in any game ever. After that it was adding new gimmicks for the appearance of evolution when they really should have taken some time off.

The time away allows them to focus on tightening the gameplay mix back to its former glory and then I'll be very happy. I enjoyed the time I spent with THPS HD late last gen.

Loved playing THPS growing up, but also didn't mind THUG and THUG2, thought they were very enjoyable at the time as well.

Last one I played I think was THAW, which was alright, but not as good as the others.
