don't know if this is the right place to post but wondering if anyone can help.

i have a few sets of ratings that are pretty much just numbers

highest in one race could be 214 next race highest could be 174 etc

anyone know a quick and easy way to convert these into a range?

eg top rater = 100

lowest = 70

any help would be grateful cheers.

Don't all ratings programs have the top rater at 100?

IF so all you need to do is scale the ratings down appropriately. You;re highest rater goes to 100 and then based on the percentage of scaling, then scale down all the other runners by the same percentage.

You could sort the field from highest rating to lowest and then convert everything into a percentage of the top rater

IE top rater = rating/rating X 100= 100
(in your example 214/214X100)

Next one would be 174/214X100= 81.3

Next one is C/214X100 and so on

If that works in terms of making sense then that shoudl be fairly quick. Just sort the list, set up a formula based on the top rater and hey presto
