Olympic Park Doubt

Re: Olympic Park Doubt.

Oh for ****s sake.

I have faith in Jimmy, but this on top of McNamee's sacking is stupid.

The guys in charge know a lot more than us, but I'm sick of this wasting money. McNamee should have at least seen out the year and why they wouldn't go ahead with the Olympic Park idea (Which is a very good one IMO) I have no ****ing idea.

I think you'll find all future long term decisions made by Jimmy's Board will be based on cost.

Sure, they will pay MacNamee out some money in the short term and maybe Olympic Park is less cost effective than Gosh's Paddock and the MCG for administration for the MFC.

The challenge for Jimmy and the board IMO is to effectively communicate their strategies to the MFC members(and potential members).

If the members are kept in the dark then they can't help you along the way with your vision. They new board must be an "inclusive board" and communicate their strategies effectively in a timely manner to the Demon faithful.

This is not true.... Firstly Jimmy has never stated that they will turn their back on the new rectangular stadium.. secondly that 250k is refundable if we choose it's to turn our backs on this deal...

Media Morons beating up a bloody story!!!!

Given Melbourne's season, this clown might be more appropriate:

Is it actually, because if you print a story saying it is a non-refundable deposit and it turns out it is refundable that is horrible journalism.

On the whole Olympic Park thing, I think we need to build our own stand alone base so I've never supported the rectangular stadium. I don't really want it to be in Casey either. So I'd be happy if we paid cheap rates for the MCG for a few years then moved to our own base.

If you don't want a base in Casey, where do you recommend? The media has reported that this area is the largest growing in Melbourne, plus there is no current AFL presence there. Why is that not suitable to you master bate?

What I was saying is that I believe the most important thing in having your own base is that it is yours, it is your asset that you control and can give you a 100% secure home. That is why I wasn't a huge fan of the rectangular stadium, and that in order for us to get a permanent base we could save a lot of cash and rent the G space for mates rates and pump money into somewhere to be our own.

I fully support the idea of the Casey training base, if it ends up as proposed we get good facilities for preseasons at an okay rate. Casey does have some things going for it as a permanent home, but I wouldn't really want it because it is very far from the center Melbourne and I'm not sure how many potential supporters there are out there to sign up (I know I wouldn't change teams if any club moved into my suburb). I think the population fact gets blown out of the water, of course it is growing rapidly it is at the urban fringe, I'm sure if you go to the urban fringes of the west and north of the city you would probably find the second and third largest growing areas in Melbourne. I don't know where I would prefer, we missed the boat on the lexus centre site and Casey might end up the best option, but I would look at a whole heap of options before moving the clubs administration and football department into a soccer and rugby stadium.
