Less Falcons butAlready averages more marks and disposals than the Million Dollar Baby Boyd.
And when that happens, so will weYou can see his confidence growing, he's going to explode at some point this year.
Big story in today's Herald Sun for Paddy fans, is someone able to cut and paste it?
Incredible mateThe game was poised and ready
When he led to the pocket
The ball was placed before him
He rose up like a rocket
He marked, then kicked for goal
The Saints' beloved son
And before the crowd could blink
Paddy had got one
He prowled the fifty metre arc
Like a bear out on the hunt
He wrestled with the backman
Got himself into the front
He marked the ball one handed
As only he could do
He smiled and walked back to kick
And Paddy had got two
The next came in a blur
As he dove out to his right
Getting to the foot of the ball
The crowd oohed at the sight
Dancing, weaving, laughing
He got himself all free
He ran, he snapped, and we all watched
As Paddy'd just got three
His eye was sharp, his mind was quick
He treated backs like boulders
He saw the ball sail in the air
And leapt upon their shoulders
None could stop him, none deny him
As up, and up, he'd soar
He marked, he kicked, the backs' heads fell
For Paddy had kicked four
They tried to double-team him
But he just burst the pack
He tapped it to the crumbers
Who noticed him run back
They passed the ball right back to him
So quick the backmen missed
Before they knew it, off he'd gone
Paddy had his fifth
The opposition hung their heads
Their hopes had all been sunk
By this boy once from the Falcons
Now the man, called Clunk McClunk
The siren rang, and we smiled sadly
For we realised we'd been starting
To see the legend born before our eyes
The one and only, the McCartin.
McCartin is playing well. If our delivery to him had been slightly better he would be dominating imo
McCartin controlling 60 arc at will
12 marks for Paddy, wonderful.
McCartin 18 disposals 12 marks 1... Can't ask for much more!
When the game fell apart it was McCartin and Wright who really stood out.
If Members and Paddy can move around the ground more Bruce becomes a very dangerous forward again. Paddy is a bit of a Cloke on goal at times it seems where the hard looks easy and the easy looks hard, they are perfect for CHF as the kicking on goal is usually in a lower percentage spot anyway and just dropping it in the hotspot is enough to help score a goal. It seems logical to me.
McCartin: Moved really well this game and the previous one. It's good to see him with a bigger engine this year as he was doing a great job of playing that CHF role. Only thing is when he plays deep he tends to mark the ball 45+ out instead of pushing back to the square and leading making him only 35-40 out.
Big Paddy Mac with 8 inside 50s, was surprised that he has the level of fitness required to roam all over the ground like he was.
Really mobile today. He looks a lot better when he moves up the ground and he can get on the long lead. Still gets led to the ball by his opponent a bit when he plays deep
Paddy marking it all over the ground. Good to see him covering more territory. Would loved for him to kick a bag himself but understand he played a more roaming role.
One of the things that really stood out for me, was the switch from last year of Bruce and Paddy. Bruce is so much more comfortable in and around goal where he can lead and double back. Paddy today though was super impressive, especially after half time, with his capacity to push outside the 50m and take the important grab before forward entry. 12 marks outstanding and at a guess 6-7 inside 50's.
Bruce and Paddy moved beautifully today. Bruce is showing signs that he will be another "run defenders off their feet" forward in the Roo mould and will give plenty of space for the more naturally talented Paddy to work. Could be a scary good forward line in the future.
Any idea on how Paddy went today in the practice match ? If he played , Richo said he was going to . Hope he played well for Sandy so he's straight back in the seniors next week.
