Can anyone confirm or know about the partial lockout for round 1 and how you can take advantage of the Captain.
From what I understand is that like myself who has Judd. I can select him as my vice-captain this week and if he scores big I can trade out my captain Swan and save my team. Then Judd automatically becomes my captain. I then trade Swan back in who then becomes my captain the following week if I choose. If Judd score is low then I just keep Swan as Captain. You can do this obviously with any gun Carlton or Richmond players you have. eg. Lids, Gibbs, Murphy etc.

Also you can do something similiar with your rookies, however a little more risky. You can place Duigan or say Conca on bench as an emergency. If they score well you could choose a respective position rookie player that you have little faith in and swap them with a Gold Coast player. That way your emergency will count along as no other player misses. With two emergencies I am told the lowest score is taken so a little more risky.

Any comments?

Apologies but I just found another thread with a little bit about the above but I guess we could continue here to be more specific.

Yeah, there is a Round 1 Captain thread, but I like your thinking about the emergency players. Hadn't thought of that one and might be something else to factor in. Like you said though, some risks involved.

I would have though you just make someone not playing the captain rather then wasting a trade with swan when he will score similar to Judd anyways

He's not planning on using a real trade. He's planning on doing it prior to the first lockout, so we all still have unlimited trades.

I thought by 'trade' he meant taking the captaincy off Swan then putting it back on. Doesn't really matter anyway.

Yeah thats right but by trading out Swan after the Carl vs rich match and saving your team, Judd (VC) then becomes your captain by default. Then I think you still have unlimited trades until the next lockout.

thats 1 trade gone for the sake of a few points

Didn't you read the post immediately before your's where the original poster confirmed that what he was doing was trading Swan out and then back in in the game between the Carlton v Richmond game and the full lockout? I'll quote it below just so you don't miss it again.

judd as vc, daniel harris as captain

if judd has a blinder put a playing midfielder on bench as emergency thus leaving judd as captain

judd doesnt get good enough captain score, then you simply put the captaincy on someone else

sound right?

Happened last year I think and it worked.. Go Captain Dave Swallow round 1!!!.. pretty sure you can adjust the captaincy after thursday night's game.. don't think the emergency got auto capt.. pretty sure if your player didn't play you got the VC score..:thumbsu:

So just to clarify (sorry, don't want to mess this tactic up) - There is a small window of time from the end of the Carlton-Richmond game until the Friday afternoon/evening full lock-out in which we can change our captain?

So today for example pick - Judd (VC) D.Swallow (C)

- Judd scores high, leave team as it is and: Swallow doesn't play due to the Bye, and is replaced by an emergency midfield player, however this emergency player DOESN'T become captain so Judd gets the double points?

- Judd scores poor, simply change the captain from Swallow to anyone else on your starting 22 (that hasn't played yet) anytime after the Carlton game and before the Friday afternoon full lock-out?

Sorry again, just wanted some clarification :thumbsu:

Yep that is pretty much how it goes. Or you can currently trade out your current captain, save your team with the missing spot, then go and select the missing player again and nobody will be your selected captain. That way you can at least have an emergency to cover an out (because say putting the C on Swallow means you need to have him on your field).
