Thanks. I will take my tower to a shop soon then just to double check it is the mobo. Hopefully there is no issue getting a z77 board lol. Or will newer boards work fine? Love that msi g45 z97 board heh
7 series mobo has an 1155 CPU socket.
8 and 9 series have an 1150 CPU socket.

Not compatible.

Just caved and grabbed a msi gaming 3 z97 board and 4690 cpu. Guy at shop agreed with you Gold Member, said to wait for 980 to come out and invest in that or take advantage of the 970 price drop.

Thanks a ton :D grabbed win 8.1 oem while I was at it. Never tried it but decided I didn't want to fart around calling MS to get my win7 oem to work.

Stock clearance sale until 7pm 20/10/2014 at Centrecom.

$89 for a GPU that still retails around the $200 mark.

Will run BF4 max settings with AA off (1080p) at 40 fps.

As an guesstimate if you turn the settings down to Low it should increase to 80 fps.

*pretty sure you could buy 2 and run in crossfire to almost double the performance* (CBF checking)

Don't scoff at Low settings, still better that console easily. Hell, I have a $400 card and play at Low settings by choice (idiot).

Other notables:
Asus, Gigabyte & Asrock Z87 mobos $89-$99
OCZ 256gb SSD $99
Aerocool 600w PSU $66
Mechanical KB's/Gaming mice/headsets half price.
