Just heard on the TV that U2 were coming to Tokyo so thought I'd check out their site to find out the tour dates. Was shocked to see that Pearl Jam will be supporting them in Hawaii

Now I know that PJ aren't what they used to be, but have they declined so much in recent years that they now have to accept supporting roles for other bands ?

Pearl Jam will have only just returned from a 35-date tour of Europe and Australia when this concert happens. I think it's more a case of mates doing favours for mates and U2 trying to add something to their show as a thank you to the crowd after it was rescheduled from a date in April!

declined enough to support tom petty & the heartbreakers in the US earlier this year...

declined enough to sell out 60 shows across the US and europe in 2006.

declined enough to still pull out 26 songs a night. night in night out.

declined enough to have 100 songs in their live repertoire to keep audiences guessing every night.

but after the asian tour of 2003, i dont think pj will be back in a hurry to support u2 there. both U2 and PJ are ending their world tours in hawaii. it will be 1 hell of an amazing night.

I am going to see Pearl Jam in Melbourne and Adelaide for that very reason, you never get the same show twice. If you keep an eye on their recent shows, the setlist changes every night and that is what separates Pearl Jam from their contempories. A truly great rock n roll band, that mix it up to keep things interesting.

Can't wait till November.

Declined, my a$s.
