Retired, Powerstufff.....
Yeah thought so, thanks. I know he was suceptible to injury but hadn't heard of him for a long time. Seems I misunderstood the intent of the thread.

Would have to have been one of the most deadly finishers the game has ever seen. Could kick em from anywhere when on song.

Shame injuries got the better of him in the end. Would slot into our current forward setup quite nicely.

Drafted by Adelaide from Central District before he had played a senior SANFL match, Peter Vardy made his league debuts with both the Crows and the Bulldogs in 1996. He spent the majority of the 1996 season with Centrals, where his 15 appearances and 18 goals culminated in participation in the club's losing grand final against Port Adelaide. In 1997 Vardy began to make more of an impact with the Crows, but a shoulder injury forced him to miss the team's grand final win over St Kilda. Elusive and inventive, he served the club well on a wing or, more commonly, across half forward, and another fine season in 1998 was crowned with a 2 goal performance in the grand final as the Crows beat North Melbourne. His form thereafter was undermined by a persistent groin injury, and the 2000 season even saw him playing a game back at Centrals. At the end of the 2001 season, after 96 AFL games and 150 goals for Adelaide, he was traded to Melbourne, where he enjoyed a couple of good seasons before his form began to decline. He retired at the end of the 2004 season, having added 42 games and 56 goals to his tallies while with the Demons.

I'll always remember that last quarter performance against Freo at Subiaco in 2004....that was awesome

Remember him going crazy in a last 1/4 against Port on year although it wasn't enough to get us over the line.:thumbsd:

that game would be up there with the dogs game last yr and the blues in the 2000 finals in my mind. i actually flew over and remember him stacking the goals up in the pooring rain - you couldnt see past half way across the field from the wing. davey got KOed and later said "i dont remember it raining", but the most memorable part of that game is that brock came in as a late change and made his debut whilst kicking a lovely goal from just outside 50.

His desperate goal, while nursing his dislocated shoulder(?) from a previous contest, against Geelong in Adelaide's semi final in 1997 was instrumental in getting them to the grand final. Very skillful, great finisher.
