Philippoussis wins

Philippoussis advanced to the third round on Wednesday with a 7-5 6-3 6-4 win over 14th seeded Swede Thomas Enqvist.

With Marat Safin, Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi out of his half of the draw and the highest seed left fifth-seeded Russian Yevgeny Kafelnikov, Philippoussis' chances of reaching the semi-finals for the first time have increased.

But first he has to get past his next opponent tonight, Germany's Nicolas Kiefer, who the Australian has a 2-2 record against but has lost the last two meetings.

Its great to see him playing some good tennis. Lets hope he can go all the way

Has been injured non ****ing stop since 2000, has missed the last two Wimbledons cuz of injury, gee really must be giving davis cup a flick too

He has sold all his cars and gotten serious about tennis, and good on him for that. (im pretty sure he has moved back to melbourne aswell).

I agree on the Hewitt thing tho

I really like Philipoussis, it was a pity seeing him injured for so long. I have a pretty good idea that he will be playing Davis Cup one day.
I wouldn't want to see a Philipoussis/Hewitt final, cos I love both of them and would hate to see one lose to the other!

All those people complaining about Hewitts behaviour need to go out and look how everyday people treat other people in the street sometimes.

Its like when he was playing in france or wherever it was. Everyone made a big fuss just because he wrecked those flowers.
This is pure rubbish.

Oh my god those pooooooor flowers how devastating and mean of Hewitt. Theres been far worse from other players. Just look at Jonh Mcenroe he went nuts on the court.

Oh yes, how silly of me, i forgot that because "other" people do it's alright to:

Vandalise flowers
Make racist remarks
Call the umpire "*******"
Tell the public of Australia that they are all morons because they booed him

Yeeeeeeees, my apologies, i forgot that that was all proper conduct

1. Regardless of what they are, they are someones work and hard effort

2. Apologised? He shouldn't have said it in the first place, it was a racist remark, and then he tried to deny that it had racist conations

3. That's not the point. The point is, on the world stage, he called an Umpire "*******" Not only derogotory to handicapped people, but also something you usually stop saying once you leave Primary School

4. After he had won at Memorial Drive 3 or 4 years ago i think it was. Press conference, called the public "idiots" not moron's (my mistake) and accused them of tall poppy syndrome.
