2023 Norm Smith Medal

The AFL wishes to advise the judges for the 2023 Norm Smith Medal will be Luke Darcy (Channel Seven, Chair), Eddie Betts (All Australian Selector and Fox Footy), Jude Bolton (All Australian Selector and Triple M), Sarah Olle (AFL.com.au) and Luke Shuey (Retired West Coast Eagles Captain and 2018 Norm Smith Medallist).

As a reminder to all media, the Norm Smith Medal cannot be shared between two players.

In the event of a tie, the tie is broken as follows:
  • Number of three votes received
  • Number of two votes received
  • If still unbroken, votes cast by the Chairperson will break the tie.

AFL FUTURES CURTAIN RAISER

The sixth annual AFL Futures match will be held on Saturday, September 30 prior to the 2023 Toyota AFL Grand Final at the MCG.

46 of the most talented under 17 footballers from across the country will take part in the match, with players split into two teams named after former Geelong Cats captain and four-time premiership player Joel Selwood and recently retired West Coast Eagles ruckman Nic Naitanui.

Players named for the AFL Futures match are born in 2006 and will be eligible for selection in the 2024 AFL Draft. The match will commence at 9.35am and broadcast live and free on the AFL website and AFL Live Official App.

I’m sure Sarah is lovely and all but… wtf?

I’m not trying to be sexist. No issues with, say, an experienced AFLW player.

This is an historical award. It’s not one for a bloody clickbait news hack.
 
Footy Festival was good fun. I think they should trial the Yarra for the parade again, but float them down the whole way and have people viewing all along the banks instead of the weird s**t they did last year where they floated them around for like 50m
