week after week, you hear the sulks, you hear the complaining, should have beaten geelong, if we did this, did that, umpire this bad call that bla bla bla

the reality is, when the game is their to be won with 15-20 minutes left in the game, WE lift a gear and take a hold of the game and get ourselves in a WINNING position, its as simple as that

how many times out of ten, will the team who is infront with a minute or two left on the clock, lose the game? unless they pull some luck out of their behind, it rarely happens

i thought this was worthy of a toast

the players time and time again, get challenged by the best, and constantly have their backs to the wall, and just like a hero in a comic book, rise to the call and triumph every week

it is a massive credit to the strength of the team, not just the talent, but the mentality of this group from the players right through to the staff

toast!

Re: players mentality

How do they do it? I'm always amazed.

For example, I didn't exactly mix myself a piña colada at three quarter time and put my feet up expecting victory.

Re: players mentality

17 points down and a quarter left against the hawks? It's a sure thing, they are our bitches.

When the Dawks are our bitches in a final I may join in this type of conversation.

But until then...

Re: players mentality

I'm loving the bitter hawks (and Essendon fans for some reason) in regards to our run at the moment and it's making my day, such petty bollocks they're spitting out at the moment. The heart of this team is brilliant. Long may it continue.

Until then we have beaten them six times in a row by narrow margins.

Coincidence?

No, when the pressure is on they crumble and we rally. Last five times against the hawks I thought we were a chance to lose, but we never do, this win was in the bag at 3/4 time.

My eldest son summed up the Geelong mentality perfectly when we were talking about the effect of Ablett leaving:

"Its like Michael Jordan left a team full of Larry Birds."

:D

Lol, love it!!

Speaking of Jordan, LeBron showed again in the finals why he will never be the next Michael Jordan :D
