Does anyone have any stats on who are the quickest players at the Saints over 20m? In particular our midfielders. It would be interesting if anyone had these stats.

I remember on interview ~2 yrs ago where the player interviewed stated that Leigh Montagna was the fastest at the club. Also mentioned that Fraser Gehrig was surprisingly quick.

Luke Ball is fast, obviously not now.

How quick is Luke Ball when fully fit? I cant remember him in the last few years being overly quick. If he is quick could he become one of those explosive midfielder like Chris Judd or Shaun Burgoyne of late if he becomes fully fit?

No, because his real assets are his inside work plus clearances.

Nevertheless, he was reported to be very good at schoolboy athletics - especially 100m

You can see the G-Train can be fast in short distances, specially with those big steps he makes while running and chasing an opponent thanks to his long legs. Obviously he's not the fastest, but he might be one of the fastest in the league among players his size.

But isn't the basal speed unoperant in footy? I believe what's more important is the speed a player can achieve when his legs are tired, after 2-3 quarters of play. I'm no sure how is it called in english, but translating literally from my mother language, it would be something like Resistance speed. Basal speed might be useful in the beginning of games, but as the game goes on, resistance speed sees its importance increased a lot.

That's a fair point but Chris Judd's inside work and clearance work is the best going around and he is the most explosive midfielder in the comp. Judd is at his most explosive when he is getting clearances and using his pace off the mark to burst out and away from packs.

10.9 is pretty quick over 100m. If fully fit can he still run 10.9 over 100m. However, I think a better indication is their speed over 20m.
