So people are getting bent out of shape because someone tried to find a better coach for their team by "poaching" one from another team. Like that has never happened before, but it sounds to me like the "shin boners" should be called the "cry babies".

As far as I can tell the only real problem here is that someone tried to lure a quality something out of Melbourne. Ok maybe I am being one sided.

However, today the AFL website says that it may try to ban those sorts of approaches. My only question is, does that mean that you can't fire a coach with time left on their contract? I am a subscriber to being as fair as possible to both sides (don't get me started on the draft/FA fairness). So it seems to be unreasonable to say to a coach, 'we can fire you when we want but you cant look at getting a better job elsewhere because ... well because we don't like that'.

Yep good call. AFL is a business/industry like any other. Individuals need to put their own careers first and foremost, just like any one else. People forget that being AFL coaches and players is what they do for a living and unfortunately there is going to be poaching but hey, that's life and a credit to the individual to be regarded that highly.
