I picked up a copy of Pro Evolution Soccer 2 today and I can see why so many people say it's the best soccer game on the market.

Anyone else got it yet and if so what do you think?

Cheers!!

It's never coming to XBox so I have to settle for FIFA 2003 which is good enough to keep me satisfied. Im not a soccer nut like I am about my BBall. NBA Live or NBA Inside Drive just are not worthy of my time .... i will ONLY play NBA2K2 and 2K3. But with soccer I dont absolutely need the best...just an adequate game.

The one thing though that really ****s me about Pro Evo 2 and I'm not sure if they have now got it with the new version?? But the full lisence is a must in all games nowadays.

I hate playing with Liverpool and Doodeck saves the ball and kicks it to midfield where Gherard takes control, passes to Merfey who releases Arn Reese down the wing who crosses to Haskey but his header is saved by Mun U's Bartarz. But it spills out and Owin is there for the put back......1 - 0!!

****s me.

Haven't got it yet as I've gone silly the past couple of weeks buying games, but hopefully by the end of the week I'll have it. :)

Jod - you say the "fake" player names sh|t you, yet you've never actually played the game.......????

Once you play this game, and SeinDude will back me up here, the last thing you think about is the fact that a few player names aren't spelled correctly. (and if it bothers you that much, you can edit the names anyway...)

Do you want gameplay or properly spelled player names? If you want properly spelled player names, then buy FIFA. If you want gameplay.......

Concur with jod, I think think Fifa 2003 is brilliant personally. PES 2 might be so much better, might not, but I am satisfied with Fifa. Personally I am finding Fifa 2003 to be much more realistic than previous versions, they have improved this one quite allot over World Cup.

Will Pro Evo 2 be coming out on the Gamecube? Or is it a PS2 only game as i suspect?

Gav...calm down :D Im not saying FIFA 2003 is better. I know gameplay wise that PE2 is by far the best soccer game around. It has the soccer gaming world by the balls...much like the Sega 2K series in basketball.

But I am a simulation fanatic. The closer to reality the game is, the better! I hate basketball games that just have crazy dunks all game long and the final score is 145 to 160 with the last play being a Steve Kerr 360 dunk over Mutombo. It just doesnt happen. Soccer games must have nil, nil draws, low scoring makes it realistic etc etc. But realism all starts with the players and the teams.

Once Pro Evo gets a full license the game will dominate.

Funny you say that, as it was on top of the European game charts just last week..........above the fully licensed FIFA..... ;)

That's absolutely right. Once you play this game, you're so caught up in the realism of the gameplay that you don't even think about player names spelt incorrectly!!

I actually have both FIFA 2003 and Pro Evolution 2 and both games have their positives, but for gameplay you can't go past Pro Evolution 2.
