For years Richmond ran a policy of only selecting coaches that were ex-players of the club. Do you think, given the relative lack of success, of Walls, Geischen and Frawley that policy holds water? If so what do you think is the missing element? Maybe if we could identify it it might be the key ingredient to Tiger Spirit..lmao

Although Wallace played for us for a season, I don't think anyone really considered him a Tiger person when he was being considered for the coaching job. The policy of selecting ex-players was ok when we had a stockpile of champions from the 70s to pick from, but when that stock ran out we really had no choice but to look elsewhere. Of the three you mentioned, Walls was an opportunistic pick-up, Geishan was cheap, and with Frawley not many others wanted the job. I don't think the lack of success of those three was because they weren't Richmond people.

I agree with IDGAF on Walls btw. However good or bad his record was before he joined us, he should never have been allowed to set foot near Punt Road.
