Im trying to connect my ps3 to the internet but it wont work and i need some help.
Im going though a wireless connection and using an apple airport.
I have set it all up and the ps3 will find my IP addy but fails to find the internet connection and when i try to go on the internet i get a DNS Error saying "8002AE1D"

I have google searched it and found many forums with people having the same problem but no one can solve it.

Best to box it back up, return it and come home with an XBOX360

Are the 360's still reliant on the wireless network adapter if you dont want to connect via Ethernet? Are they wireless out of the box yet?

Must admit I had no probs with the ps3 wireless configuration, much easier than my 360.

No, just use a laptop to bridge the connection.

Fine if you have a laptop, there will be many that don't?

From your answer I take it that you still need the wireless dongle to achieve wireless play if you don't have a laptop.

Disappointing on microsofts part considering that 90% of people will have their 360 in with their audio/video equipment not their PC equipment. Doesn't matter what way you spin it, online play is an integral part of next gen console gaming and to not make make wireless play out of the box (without spending even more) possible is just poor form.

With that said I love my 360 but resent having to pay for add-ons when I should get it out of the box.

You might be able able to buy a cheap router to plug in to the 360, but apart from that, yeah you'd need the dongle.

See, thats why the 360 is cheaper. It offers people choice, and doesn't make people pay extra who have a cabled connection where the 360 is.

Wireless online gaming is just a recipe for lag. Mate bought the dongle for his 360, and despite having an uber BB connection, he had pretty awful pings. Ended up selling it on ebay and going back to cable.

The signal has to travel from the box to the router to the internet when you use wireless, so its not surprising really.

Wireless connections are fine for browsing/downloading, but I'm personally not a fan of using it for gaming, especially in online FPS, where timing is critical and lag = death.

My 360 is connected using an Ethernet cable. I just stick my wireless modem near my xbox, connect it using a short cable, and my pc's, which i don't game on, are connected wirelessly.

Beaumont is right. i neither want, nor need a wireless connection for my 360, and i'm very happy its an optional extra that i don't have to pay for:thumbsu:

Help setup friends via wireless the other week. Had a few problems setting up, ended up having to manually assigning IP's, gateway etc. You may want to manually enter your dns servers of your isp (provided you haven't already). That will fix the problem.

Yeh i tried that and it still didnt work. I will just need to buy a cheap router i think as the apple airport doesnt work.

I'd call Apple support first. Might be for nothing, but surely they've had people with similar issues call before and they may have a quick fix.

Pretty sure its the Blu Ray that Sony uses to justify the higher price, not the wireless ability or hard drive.
