Should have given this guy a better contract. Losing him to free agency has cost us big time this season. He was really was a linchpin for our forward line. Darling so far hasn't been able to deal with the extra workload that he now has to carry. Kennedy has been good in short spurts but Lynch gave us another target at CHF and took pressure off Kennedy and Darling. It's a big loss also because it kind of hid the fact we have no decent crumbers, to an extent that was kind of the role Kennedy and Darling were able to play in the last two seasons but now we have been left exposed.

Last week he was still "hitting 'em fat" from 35 out and falling over himself on the goal line as he tried to pick the ball up for a goal.

Don't think it's fair to say Darling has any extra work load this season, Kennedy missed 3/4 of last season.

Lynch would be handy now with NicNat out and someone like McGovern would be nice as a leading CHF, but I think the club made the right choice. He was on the edging towards the outter for most of last season and was being subbed out frequently.

I'm not so sure we should have given him another year on top of what we offered. But i don't doubt he'd have some sort of positive impact on this side.

Today he wouldn't have helped much because it was our midfield that let us down in the second half.

A move that becomes more baffling every week

Lynch was never a star, but he found a heap of the ball for a big man and always lead to the right spots. Not to mention his versatility

Sigh

I'm interested in this comment. Please explain this extra workload he now has to carry. I would have thought the workload would have been bigger last year when he was our main key forward with Kennedy out for most of the year. He is getting the 2nd best defender now as opposed to last year when he was attracting the oppositions best, so I struggle to see how his workload is all of a sudden bigger this year.

Oh FFS move on! The club offered him a contract and he didn't want it, he was only going to be useful this year and at most next year, I would much rather bring a younger player through and get games into them
Do you have someone in mind? Is he currently getting any games or not considered up to getting a game? Absurd arrogant decision to piss off a 200 game CHF for guys who haven't played a single game. Lynch is now a key component of a genuine flag contender while we are limply sinking to the bottom. Darling is a very good young player but isn't big enough or good enough to hold down CHF. Get real.

True that he was no.2 last year but at seasons start Kennedy said that he is no.1 key forward and that he sets up things. The two of them have had little support this year from the likes of Hill, hams and even Lecras.

That's easy. Last year he didn't have to be as much as of a hit up target.

Obviously playing FF when we where moving the ball better provided him with supply. But with Kennedy playing deeper and getting more space he isn't getting enough of the ball up the ground.

Disagree, I think the club did the right thing.

He was offered one year, the onus is then on him to continue to work his butt off and play good footy. If he was playing good footy, chances are he would be offered another contract, or an extension mid season if he was playing blinders.

He wanted the security of two years, and was able to get it elsewhere, good luck to him.

If the club bowed down to the demands of every player, we would never move forward, hard decisions need to be enforced at footy clubs sometimes.

Exactly. Do people not remember lynch was ordinary last year? Even for the pies on Anzac Day, he got a lot of ball but had not much impact.
