Hi Eagles fans,

Would someone be able to give me an update on how the pre-season of Quinten Lynch is progressing this year?

Also, what do you think his prospects are for season 2005.. Can he become a permenant fixture at either end of the ground, and where do you see him playing most of his footy this year?

Cheers, and thanks in advance. :)

From all reports, Quinten is having a strong pre-season (often mentioned by the coaching staff). With the injuries to Brad Smith and McDougall, i would think he will be used up forward more often than not early in the season and depending on match-ups will fill either FF/CHF or CHB each match. I think he has slimmed down a bit, but he looks even stronger than last year so hopefully he can have a big season this year.

Promising signs early.

barring any great change in form i think he will play 22 games alternating from forward to back depending on matchups.

From Woosha

Worsfold said the door was now open for others to contest the full-forward slot, although he's got a probable starter pencilled in for the Wizard Cup clash with Fremantle at the end of next week.

"(Andrew) McDougall, (Quinten) Lynch, (Brent) Staker, (Ash) Hansen, (Mark) Seaby - we're in the early stages of our preparation for round one, so all those guys are just getting fit and they've got the opportunity to show where they're going to fit into the side.

"I'm not sure yet, but I think Quinten Lynch is probably the favourite to line up there at this stage."

Interesting comment from Woosha. Not sure if he's simply foxing or that he really believes Big Q is the man for the FF spot.

Interesting. I wouldn't mind seeing the Qulk at FF, but IIRC he's kicking isn't the best. Provided he can fix that I like him there.

Lynch did OK as a FF back in 2002 IIRC.

Given his strength and bulk, I'd guess he's more likely to be the stay-at-home sort of strong FF, so he may not be kicking them from as far out as (say) McDougall would, negating the kicking issue to some extent.

He kicked 17-11 in 2002 in 11 games, with two bags of 5.

Willow played the majority of those games in 2002 at FF.

Quentin would have to be one of the best long distance kicks in the team and is extremely accurate.

The Qulk isn't the most skillful player but I expect him to bust some chops down their at FF. He might not kick a lot of goals but his physical presence will be an asset to the team.

I should mention that I don't question his ability to kick a long away, just his accuracy. We disagree there it seems but secretly I hope you're right ;) .
