Oh no! Please tell me it's not true. I granted his clearance. 4th grader indeed. Hope he goes well though, except when they play us.

It's getting like that isn't it. The problem for Scotty is that he's got the classic sporting profile of a WA fast bowler - hardly ever fit enough to get out onto the playing arena.

For those who care, Thornton bowled fairly well today in his A Grade debut. He opened the bowling and bowled about 3-4 spells in the day, including the final over where the mighty Willetton Dragons got across the line chasing 305 to win. Thornton finished with 3 wickets (2 in the last over).

On a side note, Schammer, Bradley, Ibbo (in a massive Sombrero), Suban and Mundy were in attendance for a short time and all looked very fit, in particular Schammer.

We should make this a weekly update thread for Thorntons new cricket career.

That would be very cool.

australia needs a decent bowler. Would be legendary if Scotty Thornton was our man.

That would be the greatest thing to ever happen in the entire universe.

Scotty would instantly become my favourite player in the history of cricket if that happened.

I played against him in a 2nd Grade game a few weeks back. It was a one dayer and his 10 overs went for about 19, didn't get a wicket but bowled pretty tight.

Had a beer with him after the game and he said he played state 17s or 19s cricket for Victoria. Was a genuinely nice bloke!

What a star... if Beer can get the call up he has, look for Scotty in 12 months time to become the next "Leader of the Aussie Attack"
