I am relocating from Melbourne to Sydney in 8 weeks or less - any tips on trials and tribulations of this debacle of relocating your life and your home?

VERY excited and have a massive support network offering me places to stay, etc, but what are some tips anyone might have which they found made their relocation easier/more difficult?

:D

Make sure you have loads of heavy immovable stuff. Like massive pot plants, old wooden tables that won't fit through the door and plenty of stuff that is breakable. :p

I did the same thing about 8 weeks ago by moving from Perth to Sydney... no doubt that its difficult to relocate.

I take it you've chosen yourself a removalist? If so, when they get to Sydney, double check everything, especially for damage. One of the guys unloading my furniture tried to hide the pane of glass that was broken.... just keep an eye out of them

Enjoy Sydney :)

Also read the insurance VERY CAREFULLY. Know what is and is not covered.

Don't be put off if they say ' Yeah that's covered'. Check what you have in writing as any verbal advice is completely and totally worthless.

Give them the slab AFTER they have moved everything...
No, tell them beforehand, that way a better job is done and the " little things" are taken care of, as the blokes flogging their guts for very little reward are shown a little appreciation for a shocker of a job.
