Never forget our introduction to him ...

Jack Dyer and a couple of others were interviewing the new boy from WA on the old "World Of Sport" ...The new import that was going to bolster the depleted stocks at Punt rd.

LMAO @ the blue tracksuit he was wearing , like the one Quentin used to wear , and the most rippingest bowl haircut you have ever seen , rivalled Greg Straughan`s ..

... and what a remarkable player he turned out to be .

What are your memories of the "Geppster"

Had a role at the Weagles did he not after his playing days ?

I'll give up on you.....lol

Here's your next batch of 'guns'.....I'm saving you some time....
*hehehe*
Andy Goodwin
'Bomber' James
Steven Jurica

HERNAMEN. Arrived the same time as Todd Menegola.

Of all the footballers plying their trade in Western Australia, we picked those two!!!!!!

HAVE an inkling the Geppster went to Footscray for a couple of seasons before retiring. Originally from Subiaco if my memory serves me correct and came at the same time as a guy from West Perth called Dan Foley (no. 37) who once carved up the Bombers at Windly Hill, kicking four goals in the mud as we won there for the first time in an eternity!! David Palm, also West Perth, crossed to Tigerland at the same time as well.
Good mates with Malthouse at the Western Oval, hence why he ended up at the Eagles in a football department capacity.

Look....not our worse player from that period. Played some decent games and have afeeling he once went forward and kicked three or so goals in amatch. But lacked pace!!!

of all those you mentioned Dave 6 Palm was alright, tough lil prick caused a massive scrap v the demons one time, when the ghost came charging in to support him and sent Newport into Noddy land...If I can recall there was talk amongst demons that Palmy bit one of them..Looked after their mates in those days....lack a bit of it now...remember early in the year when that maggot from the Bulldogs rubbed brownies face in the dirt...Ghost would have chewed him up and spat him out for that ...

Jesus, there's a lot of guys working this thread that would run a better website in their sleep than Rhett.

Tim Gepp, David Palm??? Palmy was alright, Gepp I couldnt remember for the life of me.

I thought Hernamen and Menegola would be alright, but they were s hit.

We've never recruited well outside of Victoria, since Robert Wiley and Maurice Rioli. All our best players have always been Victorian. All our worst players have been from SA. All our biggest disappointments have been from WA.

Gepp wasn't the worst player we've ever had. Sure, he had his limitations, but he wasn't an absolute stinker.
Remember the false dawn of 1993, when we tore it up during the pre-season comp and the commentators were creaming themselves over guys like Robert Schaeffer?
Speaking of insterstate duds – Todd Breman anybody?

I once printed some passport photos for palm years ago and my boss got his autograph when he came to pick them up,he was a nice chap.

Tim Gepp &
David Palm &
Noel Carter (an oldie, but a goodie)
Take a pack mark....

Speaking of old tigers, I saw Alan 'Chesty' Hayes playing last year at age 56. He and his father Doug are in the father/son combos to play over 100 games.
I thought that was pretty cool.

Id love to back to the mid to late eighties in a time machine

Make a few more correct decisions in life from that point on that would have me better placed in life today.

But I wouldnt put myself through the torture of Richmond games at that time all over again.

Thats why stories that have come out on this forum and in Dale Weightmans book that details the type of charachters that killed the culture from the seventies make me furious.

Recruitment went down the toilet and blokes who were booted out of other clubs had a nice suburban club culture to come to where they could be paid a VFL salary.

Geppy is one name that sums up that bad period. We all suffered through it. Were we still waiting for Michael Aish to come over at that time?

Funny wordplay there Delib ... when you actually think about it we are still paying reparations for both him and the work his old man did

His ol man could play......massive heart....
I love Richmond players with Ticker....

The Kellaways, as poor as their skills were, never shirked an issue for the Tiges.......honest players.....never cheated

I hate the half @ss players we've had in the past...
(and we still have a 'ball carry' who cheats at times...?)
You know ID, those players that put out one arm out, knowing that they only
have to do that to show they are making an attempt, when in fact they are
pretending to tackle...

David could take a speccy.....but his ol man was made of stone....

I was there the day 'St.Francis' bled all day at Arden Street...

What was the deal details on David Bourke?
We lost out on that, didn't we?
Who'd we get for Bourke?

:) FINALLY found his niche at Tigerland late in his stint. was used exclusively to kick the ball back in from a behind. Such was the strength of our list at that stage, we all knew it would take at least two kicks for the ball to come directly back through the big sticks!!!!

Couldn't get a kick elsewhere on heroin!!!

:) IDOLISED the guy, Deliberate. favourite player of all time in the black and yellow...even played out one game witha broken leg.
Heck it was 1979 I think that day at Arden Street. I was about eight at the time and playing junior football. For the next three weeks I went around diving in to packs and running in to teammates just trying to get my eye busted open like Bourkey!!!! Pity I had but one millionth of his talent and skill.

If I am not mistaken , we traded Bourke to the Kangaroos for pick 68 in the 2001 AFL draft. We paid roughly two thirds of his contract with the Kangaroos which thankfully only lasted one year. We drafted Chris Hyde with the pick!!!!

Someone other than meowtoroar bringing up David Bourke??

Not sure of the Bourke coaching stint.

Looked ok as a kid because of the team we had in 1982 that looked great all year except for Bloody Carlton and Hawthorn who slammed us.

plenty of stories though of players not getting along with him.

I had this terrible feeling in my guts leaving the MCG after that GF.

Think you took that the wrong way D... St. Francis is a tiger legend through and through ... i was referring to the fallout from his coaching stint .

Not a very popular bloke when he coached and had a fair bit to do with a lot of blokes throwing the towell in after 82 .

Tried to coach to soon after his playing days and was too close to the players

How bout little speedstar...number 26 Clay Sampson
i remember as a kid i loved this guy...always chassed down people from behind like aaron davey does nowadays. What happened to this guy? anyone one know....IDGAF?
